As 3D generative AI matures, it’s reshaping creativity across multiple disciplines.
This year, ever-expanding work in the 3D generative AI space will be explored as part of the SIGGRAPH Technical Papers program, including these three novel methods — each offering a unique take on how 3D generative AI is being applied.

It's crazy how advanced the graphics software on Symbolics LISP machines were in the 1980's before SGI kind of took over that space.

The dot product is essential in game dev and simulations—from FOV checks to coordinate transformations. This intro article covers the geometric intuition, key lemmas, and a practical example for visibility modeling without ray tracing. https://thorsten.suckow-homberg.de/docs/articles/computer-graphics/the-geometry-of-the-dot-product

History of Computer Art, HTML versions in English and German with embedded videos: I updated the embed codes (YouTube, Vimeo and dailymotion changed them). Now you can see the videos within the text and go to the videos on the platforms - as it was before.

Is there a standard algorithm to create a halftone screen from a greyscale image? How was this even done before computers?
I mean like in this image. At 50%, the raster is like a checker board, and at darker tones, it's like white circles on black.
So just drawing black circles won't get you there.

Someone who has more technical knowledge of #ComputerGraphics and its associated math, how exactly does RGBM encoding work? I understand the steps of taking the maximum and then divide it across, but what exactly does that do graphically?
I consulted a number of old blogs but it doesn't seem to 'click' yet.
Hero Wavelength Spectral Sampling successfully implemented!
Both: 4 samples per pixel
Left: one wavelength per ray
Right: four wavelengths per ray
With only a modest increase in runtime duration, the image becomes much smoother. This is more efficient than just adding more samples per pixel!

"Sketchpad: A Man-Machine Graphical Communication System", Sutherland (1963) was a "recommended reading" in the early 1980s, when I got into #ComputerGraphics. I think it should be "required reading" today in #UI graduate studies. Perspective—ya know....
I've also been looking at racial bias, #racism in #Computergraphics. (There was a path I was on, from Grace Hopper's wikipedia entry (because of the recently released NSA lecture) to #lenna to shirley cards in #photography until finally I got here.)
@TheodoreKim has a video I watched about this that was really eye opening for me. I've asked my lecturer in the #uniofsheffield about this as I'll be doing a computer graphics module, so I'll see what he says. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROuE8xYLpX8
Are you familiar with #Processing Java or maybe #p5js? Would you like to see how it would be to write the same ideas but with #Python?

I have scanned and uploaded a manual for #Symbolics S-Dynamics, version 6 from 1985: https://archive.org/details/symbolics-s-dynamics-manual
"[It] is a software system that lets you describe and control the scheduling and synchronization of events in time [...] used in conjunction with S-Geometry and S-Render to script animated computer graphics."
My old graphics card started to show its age after about 8 years (especially in the more demanding/modern games) and it was time to make an upgrade to a new beast: PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 7900 GRE. It's doing great, even at 4K resolution and I love how quiet and cool it is running even while gaming and using the OC mode. About time the PC takes back some of that gaming time from the Steam Deck :)
