@Tutanota Hey, by the way ... How is Tuta experimental Linux app working on #linuxonmobile ? Say on #phosh or #plasmamobile running on #postmarketos or #mobian ? Is it customised for small screens / touch interface? I haven't tried it yet but can't see Tuta mail on any list of tested linux on mobile apps... If it's not done yet, are there chances you could put some effort into it in near future? Google actions regarding AOSP and FOSS apps are more and more concerning so we need that working
I do not have a #Google Account or using any of their services. Running #GrapheneOS without #Gapps using #F-Droid Apps , except 1 sideloaded apk for the OBD of my car, in separated profile, only.
Now where Google will deny #sideloading it is time that GOS finds a serious producer for a #phone except #Pixel ones or, #LinuxOnMobile will geht a huge kick forward. But also there a cool phone is required.
It is time for more #privacy and #SelfHosting
@micr0 "Pragmatic" solutions only work up to a certain point.
Halium is the most pragmatic solution for running Linux on (many) mobile devices. But you have to accept running proprietary software and outdated, unsupported kernels. It's good for people that want something that just/mostly works, though.
Mainline-based #LinuxOnMobile is an attempt at getting rid of those proprietary bits, and it matters to lots of us. So no, we won't go the pragmatic route, even if it holds us back for a while
Looks like #Google will help #Linux on #Mobile to go faster in a daily driver direction with their #Sideloading and #Registration strategy. I am on #GrapheneOS , #Debian #Linux and #FreeBSD everywhere, totally free of #Windows and #Google since a long time, not even having an account there. But I think the future is #LinuxOnMobile and hopefully a manufacturer succeeds with a cool device for already existend Distros.
Ah, and yes this also works for #businesses .
btw, I've played with OpenStore support from FuriLabs and got it running on Mobian: https://git.erebion.eu/forgejo/erebion/furios-openstore-support-mobian
I'm currently amending the Device Tree for the Xperia 10 III.
Already got a couple things working (such as panel, flashlight, I think Bluetooth should work as well, but haven't tried yet)
Anyone here who wants to upstream the changes?
I'd rather focus on getting more stuff working than finding out how I upstream that correctly.
Also, the change set probably does not look clean enough and would probably get rejected anyway, without some cleanup.
I've anyone's looking for something really useful to package for #Mobian/#Debian, it would be Rockwork, a Pebble companian app, which is made for UBPorts, but works well on Mobian. It's just kinda painful to build a .click package in the "desktop" build variant and SCP that to the phone and then fiddle with the click command.
It's easy enough to build, should be relatively easy to package.
Wanted to try https://github.com/FuriLabs/gnome-software-plugin-openstore on Mobian, as there's one single package (Pebble app Rockwork) I use from UBPorts OpenStore.
Compiled it, installed it, but that does not seem to be enough to find OpenStore apps in there.
What else do I need?
Any ideas?
@apps Time to make serious work of Linux on mobile , that is the only long term viable solution. All custom ROMs are in the end fully dependant on Google that can always kill these projects as soon as they become relevant or close to mainstream.
Meow!
I'm not so good in archery, but at least my WIP #libcamera patches for autofocus works great :D
Let's make some promo of it

Update 13.1.1 https://furilabs.com/update-13-1-1/
Smart dynamic low memory killer, support for cell broadcasts & modem improvements. Fixed issues with Vulkan, MMS stability, usability & memory leaks to improve stability & performance.
I had so much fun at FrOSCon! I went there with the wish to meet and enjoy sharing with the postmarketOS, Linux on Mobile, and hacker communities again, and got both deeply fulfilled. Thanks everybody!
Guess what? I got the lens focus driver working on my #Pixel3a running #postmarketOS
It's still very messy and I haven't found out the correct values for everything but I can set the focus using my poor-mans PipeTap.
I'm on vacation for the next 2 weeks so I won't have time to work on getting it upstreamed but if you want to play around with it you can pm me to get the patch.
Miau! I took some photos on front camera of my Xiaomi Redmi 4 (xiaomi-prada) running @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems.
With some tweaks photos looks really great
