I installed <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@NekoCWD" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>NekoCWD</span></a></span>'s cameractrl and it successfully controls focus, but the PPP camera seems to have autoexposure that reduces the utility of cameractrl's exposure slider. Anyways, here's a picture of some other postmarketOS devices.</p>
Robert Mader<p>First try to create <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> swISP tuning files for the OnePlus6 with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ideasonboard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ideasonboard</span></a> folks at <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/embeddedworld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>embeddedworld</span></a>. Unfortunately we hit an issue that we couldn't fix on-side - got a few todos to make sure things work out next time!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/postmarketos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>postmarketos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxmobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linuxmobile</span></a></p>
Robert Mader<p>4. Thanks to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> enablement work, udmabuf is available to users by default in many distros now and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/systemd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>systemd</span></a> 257 sets an uaccess tag. It's not yet available in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/flatpak" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>flatpak</span></a> without device=all, though.<br>5. The main missing DRM formats are three-plane &gt;= 10 bit ones that are compatible with what sw-decoders produce.<br>6. AFAICS the approach should work equally well for clients like <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mpv" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mpv</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>firefox</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>chromium</span></a>.</p>

IIUC RKISP1, the one also used in the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pinephonepro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinephonepro</span></a>, could be a good option from the driver/software side - <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> has pretty good support for it by now and is actively being developed. Among <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/postmarketos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>postmarketos</span></a> devices I'd say the PPP has the by far best camera experience (not needing the software ISP), mainly missing some sensor tuning (e.g. the image is still too dark and color correction is missing).</p>
