So many projects, so little time! I hope you find something you like

Hello everyone. I'm The Owlbear. I've been here for like, a bit, and decided I finally needed to do a proper intro post.

I'm into many nerdy things, particularly TTRPGS, Video Games, and Science Fiction. A few of my favorite things:

* #Pathfinder2e and #Golarian in general.
* #Murderbot
* #Terraria (I suck at it tho)
* #Fallout but not 76 (or any other multiplayer only game for that matter)
* A very specific and short list of #Anime
* The two #Alien movies (Alien and it's sequel, Aliens). I'm so glad they never made more.
* #TTRPGs that aren't D&D 5e (earlier editions are cool tho)
* #IndieGames
* #GameDesign
* #Linux and #Gnome, particularly #Arch #VoidLinux #AlpineLinux and #Fedora
* #LGBTQIA2S
* #Owls
* #Bears
* #Owlbears
* The #DCEU - now that James Gunn is in charge

I like other stuff too.

I don't like hate, that crap they call AI these days, trolls, and being shitty just to be shitty.

I believe in love, compassion, empathy, and generally not being a shit person.

brainstorming some ideas on YCH: The Game.

this is an idea I've had kicking around in my head for a while. when furry characters interact online or at meetups, there's a sort of "implied multiverse" there, right? we all come from different settings with different cosmos and magic and such, but we generally agree to honor whatever weird rules the other characters are playing by.

so, YCH is a game set in that implied universe. I specifically want it to be possible to put any character onto a card, and have a small collection of cards work as a "team", so that you can trade characters with a few people at a con and quickly get a game going.

today I was rambling about this in Tynach's dms and I realized that there's a perfectly good setting for this game, a setting where:
- each character only needs one card
- a deck can be 10 cards or fewer
- any magic system can easily be adapted to fit

that setting is, of course, baseball.

I love the documentaries that /noclip make. They're full of interesting interviews, fascinating information, and are really engaging even when I haven't played the game.
Here's the latest one, about the excellent "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" and how a studio that generally made shooters like Wolfenstein managed to create a fun adventure game with very little shooting and great 80s Indiana Jones atmosphere.

I'm thinking about prototyping a quick-and-easy #solarpunk #TTRPG based on #forTheQueen game.

Little setting, no characters, just a lot of story prompts on cards the players draw one after another to tell a tale together.

Some topics I'm exploring so far:

- A rescue effort after an environmental disaster, telling the story of the community being saved

- Climate refugees moving into a new, wooden sustainable social housing

#introduction

Hello dark disco, beauty in the darkness sonic comrades and ahoy fedi neighbours. This is my fresh account for my music and art. I am a drummer and independent electronic music and multimedia producer. I make #industrial #ebm, #synthpop, #goth, #dystopian, #horror, #powernoise, #soundtrack, #techno etc sounds.

My catalogue is free in solidarity or donate what you can on my #faircamp at https://music.control.org

I am available for donate what you can #commissions for remixes, sound design, loops, beats, game assets, installations, soundtrack, you name it. While my wheelhouse is dark, organic, heavy, I am very happy to slide more accessible for kindred projects.

I lost a crap load of connections in splitting my accounts but it was needed for agency and to be more regular and compartmentalised in my posting to focus spoons, specifically for art with a number of exciting projects and releases imminent. I'll be announcing some planned regular post features soon.

Any help with a #boost, follow or mention if you've liked any of my recent remixes or live show much appreciated.

In the back-end of this year thanks to some amazing support and friends, I am very much out of hiatus, very much fighting to stay vertical, and very much releasing:
-a covers album of bangers to clangers from the 80s to now, with a slight touch of my darkness, focusing on songs that I like to shout at the top of lungs when I have my safety headphones on. Caveat, I am not a singer.
-a new original control.org album of EBM thumpers
-an EP of remixes for the 25th anniversary of my C2 album "second wave"

Plans after that, universe willing and with your help, include more dirty sound and drum loop collection volumes, an EP of regenerated, revisited, refreshed tracks of mine from ~30 years ago onward, the sixth full-length from my powernoise and dark soundscape project C2, and at least another volume of covers, music videos, plus more live stream concerts!

And if a good ole independent mail list is up your lane https://mail-list.control.org/subscription/form for occasional updates on releases and events.

Shit is grim. Help me to go down dancing. Let's punch upward and stomp together!

Cheers if you made it this far. Keep fighting and stay vertical.

Am I the only one who thinks that firefighting / first responder games would be absolutely awesome and better than any shootout?

Writing bindings for game controllers is a huge pain, especially when the game is big and has a ton of actions you have to bind to different controls. It becomes worse when the game is an audio game and requiring lots of controls for announcement of information that's too crucial to be put under a menu or something like that.
In return though, controls vibrate, and it's fun connecting all sorts of events to that; Especially now that these new controllers support vibration intensity.
