Today I'm discussing how algorithmic reverbs work using the popular “Freeverb.” I give details on feedforward/feedback delays and allpass filters, and I include a Max/MSP patch to play with.
Hope it's helpful/interesting to someone!

Hi folks! I am starting a research blog on creative coding and (non-generative) AI in music - mostly notes to my future self https://helenbledsoe.com/research-blog/
My "normal" blog for flutists and composers will still continue https://helenbledsoe.com/blog/

Here's a video using audio analysis (via SP-Tools) to control a ciat-lonbarde Clicker:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_ECFimvxNM
Darker/less-noisy sounds are triggering the lower “kick”-sounding voice, and brighter/noiser sounds are triggering the brighter “snare”-sounding voice.
Then my loudness and brightness (via spectral centroid) are controlling the CV inputs on the Clicker, changing the “pitch” and overall duration of the impulses heard.
Hello, I'm Orion, this is my Fediverse #introduction
I'm a musician from Nova Scotia, principally playing electric bass. Currently in my last year of study for undergrad music.
I am interested in contemporary #composition, #musicproduction, and performance, mainly in the realm of improvised music, new complexity, and jazz. #AbletonLive is my DAW of choice, dabbling in #MaxMSP and other software.
Other hobbies are #photography #ttrpg #linux #fountainpens #mma
@scorefollower shared one of my pieces!
It's for trumpet, trombone, percussion, and MIDI keyboard w/ Max/MSP, and it's got microtonal brass, glitchy noise, and cheesy DX7 sounds

@bleeptrack Reminds of the 90s where the dudes also rejected #maxmsp as not real programming. But flow based programming was invented in the 70s iirc. Just came across a quote where someone said: "My favorite programming language is solder." ;)
Hi, I am a sound designer and engineer.
I like programming sounds with #pd, #maxmsp and hardware synths, DAW's, etc. But tools don't matter in the end as you probably know, aesthetics do -- and reverb algorithms. Do you know any?
I spent too much time with #linux and #haskell. I reaaaally don't like commercial ads. After all, is the internet post-modern?
My favorite emoticon is the smiling face with tear.
I toyed around with gabber:

Turns out that Max MSP supports LUA, and even can evaluate expressions that users supply through text input fields. Nice! I used that feature to write a Max for Live plugin that filters MIDI notes (or generates them) based on user supplied expressions.
https://github.com/xot/XOT-MidiFilter
It can be used to shift notes, adjust note velocities, delay notes, create rhythmic patterns, process incoming chords as an arpeggiator, and much much more. #maxmsp #ableton #maxforlive
Hello everyone! Making my #introduction
I'm a music composer, I mainly do #ElectronicMusic with #MaxMSP and #ContemporaryClassicalMusic . I also like #programming #Cycling #reading and spending time with my cat.
I'm new to the Fediverse and Mastodon hoping to share my interests with others.
Well, my previous instance seems to have died while changing hosts, so let's do the intro thing again.
I'm a #composer and #performer of #experimentalmusic (I play #mandolin, #violin, #uke, #synths, and do interactive computer programming in #MaxMSP, #PureData, #SuperCollider, and #SonicPi). College prof in #MusicTech and #composition, where I get to teach #VideoGameMusic among other things. #Runner, #TTRPG fan, and #coffee aficionado, and I speak both #English and a decent amount of #French.
Hello, my name is Simon. I make music and media art, usually in collaboration, by creating generative, interactive, or performance systems in #maxMSP
I'm also interested in enactive/embodied cognition, AI ethics and criticism, art as a cultural/community activity, origins of music, other-than-human creativity…
A settler, I grew up in a village in northern British Columbia, the unceded territories of the Wet'suwet'en, on the banks of the Wedzin Kwa.
I enjoy a good beer
Here is my #introduction !
I'm a composer who builds interactive technology to augment the performative ability of software, mostly for contexts that involve improvisation. I also collaborate often, with dance and video artists as well as other musicians.
This is a piece I made called Left Hand of Receiving, which functions a bit like a theremin but controls a #maxmsp patch:

I recently created "Manifolds" for the Ina/GRM acousmonium. One of its nodes were some experimentations with tunings from sub-saharian Africa and the diaspora found in fragments of polyphony breaking down in that multichannel space.
Here's an interview and extract of the premiere at 104, Paris.

hello! i'm Vasilii, and i'm bad at introductions. i'm 36, i used to be a film critic. now i try to make electronic music and learn to code something useful. i don't like using social media, but i see mastodon as a tool for sharing information. i also may share some music.
