Hi #linux and #endof10 people.
I am trying to migrate my elitebook G2 to #kubuntu, unfortunately for unknown reason, when it comes back from hibernation the touchpad is not responding any more while everything was okay before hibernation, then I have to reboot to get it back...
Any clue on how to reset touchpad when exiting of hibernation ?
It's now easier to get Mesa 25.1 on the latest Ubuntu 25.04 https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/07/its-now-easier-to-get-mesa-25-1-on-the-latest-ubuntu-25-04/
I have the pleasure to browse the web from a #linux OS for the first time. :)
I turned my old (2017) laptop to #kubuntu thanks to a post of #endof10
I struggled a bit with the BIOS setup to make it boot as it should but aside that it was really easy. Now, time to discover further this new environment.
Next step will be to be comfortable enough with it before I move my more recent computer out of Microsoft. One step at a time.
@stefano I had no problem with 24.10 as a starting point. Switched to Kubuntu and upgraded to 25.04. Repeatedly (using VirtualBox for most tests).
I recently tested, repeatedly, the ability to recover after aggressively resetting the VM during an offline system update. A simple command successfully repaired things (online).
What's pictured is recommended on Linux, should not be set on FreeBSD.

After three weeks of #cycling through #germany, the first thing to do on my PC at home is:
sudo dnf update -y && sudo flatpak update -y
...7.5 GiB of updates on #Fedora 42 and #KDE plasma 6.4 + Kernel 6.15.X
My brother whom I visited with my bike asked me about what he can do with his #windows11 incompatible notebook and I told him about #Linux and @Endof10
Maybe I can onboard him to the KDE desktop, be it with #Kubuntu or Fedora KDE Edition
Thinking about switching to Linux but unsure if you can actually get your work done?
I’ve just released a new video where I show how you can handle email, documents, video calls, and more, all on Kubuntu Linux.

Kubuntu 25.10 will drop Xorg in favor of Wayland, joining major Linux distros like Ubuntu and Fedora in the shift.
New installs will boot into Wayland, though X11 can still be added manually. This aligns with KDE & Ubuntu’s push for modern, secure display tech.
While some users remain hesitant, broader Wayland adoption seems inevitable.
KDE Plasma will continue having an X11 session, as Kubuntu switches to Wayland by default https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/06/kde-plasma-will-continue-having-an-x11-session-as-kubuntu-switches-to-wayland-by-default/
Made it.
On 25.04 now.
I have to say that I am continually impressed with how Kubuntu handles external monitors/TVs. The majority of the time it just works. When it doesn't it is usually the resolution being wrong.
Pretty sure I hate Snap _with a passion_ now. Fresh #Kubuntu install (24.04.2 LTS) and Firefox can't open because it's not connected to a plug or whatever. Install chromium. Also a snap. Same bullshit.
Honestly been loving working in #KDE in #Linux much more than Gnome.
And the Kate editor has become quite capable and helpful - even IDE-ish!
Using #Debian stable KDE, and #Kubuntu on different workstations and the differences are minor for use.
Wayland still seems to be hot pile, but under X11 it's great.
I imagine their hubris was similar to the systemd people. It's been YEARS.
Still though, KDE -
