@simplex I think that statistics for even Linux desktop users are not too reliable as they generally dislike/distrust #telemetry and tracking, so Linux phone user count could be difficult.

If follower count here on the fediverse is anything to go by, the largest #LinuxPhone-related accounts @pine64, @purism, @postmarketOS appear to have around 13-10k followers. If app download count can give as a hint, the Gnome Calls app (originally made by Purism) was downloaded over 50k times from Flathub flathub.org/apps/org.gnome.Cal

As for devices, phones sold with Linux preinstalled include the #Librem5, #LibertyPhone, #PinePhone, #PinePhonePro, #Flx1 and #JollaC2.

Some older Android devices repurposed to install Linux include #OnePlus6, #Pixel3a and #Fairphone5.

After introducing a subscription model for software updates last year, Jolla now says it will offer at least 5 years of free updates for the Jolla C2 which runs a custom Linux-based OS called Sailfish. My #JollaC2 Community Edition phone is finally fully working and I'm spending a bit of time getting to know it.

I like the physical feel, although some aspects will take a little getting used to (big screen, rounded corners, notch). I do appreciate the subtle touches like "Privacy from Finland" printed on the camera bump. Captures the spirit of #SailfishOS.

Can't deny I'm thrilled to see #Gecko ESR91 running on it.

Now to spend some time getting the software set up just right!

Despite the size, the #JollaC2 is a nice piece of hardware. I kinda wish @jolla offered the purple version of "Reeder S19 Max Pro S" though... I lol-ed at the name, let's stick with C2.

Display is bright enough (well, Finland is kinda dark now for proper testing), speakers are loud enough, audio quality meh, but I'll probably be using headphones (with 3.5mm!!)

Size matters.

Why do most manufacturers think Pro Max Plus Ultra XL is the best? Do most users think the same?

Why do I drop my phone so much? Yes I'm clumsy, but when I can't even reach the middle of the phone, there's no way I can properly balance it. #SailfishOS gestures help but only up to a point.

If only the #JollaC2 was the size of #JollaC...

@cybette The battery drained overnight from around 46% and the phone shut off. I've only added the Tooter app and email sync since the previous night (without drain). Suspect the latter.

Edit: after 2 more days of normal battery drain I think it was just the initial sync taking too much battery juice. Looks ok for now.

@zantob @carquint @nobodyinperson @jolla Ein riesen Problem war schon seit je her die Kamera. Keine Ahnung wie genau die Entwickler es über all die Jahre nicht geschafft haben, die Schnelligkeit beim Start zu verbessern. Der Autofokus war oft daneben und langsam. Die Bilder akzeptabel aber nicht mehr auf der Höhe der Zeit. Eventuell bessert sich das mit dem #JollaC2 aber zumindest beim ersten #Jolla phone und dem #Sony #XA2 war es einfach blöd.
