@DoKo @moshidon Setting up #UnifiedPush today has almost driven me insane. Tried different distributors, different #ntfy servers, not even the UP test app was triggering notifications despite registering successfully (as all other apps did). Then I switched to the official ntfy server and most apps started working but #ElementX based #Matrix clients did not. Then I read about this issue: github.com/element-hq/element-
And after a while they just started working too... but not the original Element client. 🤦 🤷

Steps to reproduce Install unified push (e.g. ntfy.sh) Install Element X via F-Droid Receive a message Observe that no notification is received. Outcome What did you expect? I would expect to recei...
GitHubNot receiving notifications on the F-Droid version with unified push · Issue #3031 · element-hq/element-x-androidBy K4LCIFER

🤯 🤯

  • I've ported UnifiedPush to Firefox, so it can receive background notifications using the service you want, specially useful for PWA (installable web application)
  • ntfy provides a PWA
  • So I can receive ntfy notifications with their PWA through any push service, for instance using Sunup :D

Great news for the wafrn app !!

As a culmination of the big journey of the past weeks, the Wafrn App is now listed in the official @unifiedpush documentation as one of the apps that support UnifiedPush

Cool, Fennec is interested in #UnifiedPush support [1]

We will probably have it on Fennec before it gets upstream (if it does 🤞).

That means UnifiedPush will be available for "installable web applications". So we'll have push notifications with some new apps !

@davx5app
Really wonderful approach which I just learned about today. I'd really like to use #Davx5 #unifiedpush with my #nextcloud instance and #nextpush. However, the #davpush app seems not to be compatible with NC v31 yet. And in the bug tracker I read about possible incompabilities with upcoming v32.
So will this likely continue to be an issue that I won't be able to use it on the newest NC version for a while? Or are you guys maybe even working on an integrated solution?

@chewie By using Signal-FOSS or Molly-FOSS you just force the Signal app to use its WebSockets-based notification fallback mechanism. But if you have Play services installed and have granted them network permissions, you might as well just use FCM for notifications. It saves battery life compared to each app maintaining its own background network connection.

If you're using @mollyim you also have a third option for receiving notifications: @unifiedpush

But since Signal doesn't support it natively, you need a mollysocket server that receives the Signal notifications and translates them into UnifiedPush format. The mollysocket server is connected to your Signal account as a linked device, but it does not have your decryption keys. There are public instances of mollysocket like mollysocket.adminforge.de

The easiest and best way to get started with UnifiedPush (IMO) is the recently released Sunup distributor app.
