Many people on the #IETF wifi networks in Madrid are running into problems using @signalapp. My hypothesis is that the large number of users in a small number of IPv6 /64s is triggering some rate-limiting. Does #Signal have the ability to apply reputation and rate-limits on a /128 basis for specific /64s? (Clearly future IETFs should use /64-per-host as @abhayakara pointed out on the mailing list.)

#Mastodon doesn't have #e2ee #Matrix doesn't have #metadata privacy or #QuantumResistantEncryption and #Signal is centralised with single points of failure that can be corrupted subpoenad and seized by state actors. I daily drive #simplex simplex.chat bc it has e2ee, metadata privacy, quantum resistant encryption and also has the best anonymity and profile separation tools I've ever seen all while being #foss and #decentralised I know of no other messenger that can boast all this

@delta I love the QR barcode features, to add your fellow contacts IRL: one phone reads the QR barcode of another, using the camera. :verified_blob_cat:

BTW: #Signal in #iOS, as of yet, still doesn't have a comparable QR barcode displaying or reading feature to add a contact.

I know I just shared @Mer__edith's SXSW talk with Guy Kawasaki, but I have to quickly check back in with a timecoded link, because if you hear nothing else of this (you should; you'll learn what communication privacy in the age of #SurveillanceCapitalism looks like), trust me when I say you need to hear her response to a question about impeding progress & innovation by not putting #AI in #Signal 🙌💛💪🤩 youtube.com/live/AyH7zoP-JOg?f

Let me be clear: That's not an opinion - that's fact.

A voluntary "FOSS subscription"

...for open tools and services that are useful to me.

I'm doing this since summer 2024.

Each project gets paid at least 5€ per month.

Let's take the monthly recurring revenue model of MS365 as an example but fund projects, that won't sell your data 😊

I believe in monthly payments so the projects have a stable budget to operate with.

The list includes now:

- :kde: KDE (desktop on two devices, 10€)
- ✉️ Thunderbird
- 🛜 Signal

Joined today by:

So if you can, consider paying for the foss services you use 🙂

Thanks for hosting this platform @milan
