It's time for a long-overdue service for my viola - I've only recently started playing properly again, after a 25-year hiatus. First stop: the bow people, to discover if the nice violin bow I summarily rejected aged 18 in favour of a 'proper' viola bow is actually a viola bow after all.

Solina String Ensemble MkII issue tracking. A lot of work on top of the usual recapping because of the Bass Circuit board being populated with a blend of MkII and MkIII resistor values. A total mess and I guess the bass section stopped working in 1993 when the net voltage was raised from 220 to 230V. The #Solina #Strings have an unregulated PSU so the main point is to get voltages to spec or certain transistors will fail.

🧠🚐 „Astounded“ von @/branvan3000official ! Die Vocals haben eine besondere Geschichte: Wer sich beim Hören an „Move on Up“ von Curtis Mayfield erinnert fühlt, liegt genau richtig. Der Gesangspart ist unveröffentlichtes Archivmaterial, das er Bran Van zur Verfügung stellte, und „Astounded“ ist damit Mayfields letzter Song geworden.
