A total mess and I guess the bass section stopped working in 1993 when the net voltage was raised from 220 to 230V. xenogon<p>We live in an age of incredible numbers of things people have made yet there are loads of things I'd like to have or buy that don't exist and AFAICT never have.</p><p>Sadly most things people make are basically the same as some other thing someone made before.</p><p>I think of something that should exist but doesn't about twice a week at least.</p><p>Sometimes it's a whole new thing, sometimes its just an obvious (to me) tweak to an existing thing.</p><p>I have often thought it might be worth a whole mastodon account just tooting things that someone should make but no-one has.</p><p>Today's one is a Hammond Organ virtual instrument that supports microtuning. Preferably though MTS-ESP. Now how to send MIDI Clock? Oh Hydrogen cannot send MIDI clock. </p><p>I need jack_midi_clock to get MIDI Clock from the general Jack Transport. Installing.</p><p>Okay now I'm in GMIDImonitor to find out the jack_midi_clock does not send any MIDI Clock, at least not on my system of <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Pipewire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Pipewire</span></a> + <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Jack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jack</span></a>. Or perhaps it does but I can't see, since the synth's arpeggiator stops when transport plays and continues playing when transport stops.</p><p>This is getting weird.</p><p>Now I have lost my idea for the drum pattern, so I'm giving up on making music for today. Time is very limited anyways.</p>

Jetzt muss ich noch Zeit finden, sie einzubauen.</p><p>Nebenbei zeigt das Thema deutlich, warum ChatGPT uns nicht weiterbringt: Neues Wissen entsteht eben nicht damit.</p><p>Das Überhitzungsproblem des JD-XA ist in einem deutschen und einem englischen Web-Forum dokumentiert. Da haben sich Leute hingesetzt und das Problem analysiert und das problematische Bauteil identifiziert. Wissenschaft ist das nicht direkt, aber es wurde neues Wissen damit erst geschaffen.</p><p>Eine Suche nach "roland jd-xa hitze störgeräusch laut" befördert dieses Wissen zutage.</p><p>Für ChatGPT ist es zu randständig, hier kommen nur Allgemeinplätze und der Hinweis, man solle halt in eine kühlere Umgebung gehen. </p><p><a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/ChatGPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ChatGPT</span></a> hätte die Möglichkeit, die wenigen Wissensschnipsel zu nutzen – aber nur, weil sie vorher von menschlicher Intelligenz erarbeitet wurden.</p>

Auf seinem Album „Changes“.</p><p>Hatte mein Vater als LP, ich habe es mir irgendwann als CD gekauft.</p><p>Doch von dieser Musik werden jüngere Generationen nie erfahren, denn außer als gebrauchte Scheibe scheint es diese grandiose Platte nirgendwo mehr zu geben… hier so: <a href="https://www.ebay.de/itm/235834451155" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">ebay.de/itm/235834451155</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>Heute denke: Okay, Tom, gut gemacht. Die legendären Synthesizer von damals haben die Welt damals verändert, zusammen mit Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock und vielen anderen, wie auch dem Jazz-Tunichtgut Wolfgang Dauner. Später dann wurden Synthesizer Mainstream, vielleicht ausgehend von der Rockmusik.</p><p>Heute aber ist das durch. Bei aller liebe zu Vintage Synth Sounds… die neue, spannende Musik mit Synthesizer muss man heute genauso suchen, wie spannende neue Synthesizer(-Konzepte).</p>
Nielso<p>Reparieren oder Wegwerfen?</p><p>Gestern war's heiß in der Venue, und so ist mein <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Roland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Roland</span></a> <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/JDXA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JDXA</span></a> in der Show nicht weniger als 6× ausgestiegen, um dann am Ende konsequent halb zu verrecken, ohne Störgeräusche, aber auch ohne Analog-Platine. </p><p>Ursächlich ist ein SMD-großer Spannungswandler auf der Digital-Platine, gepaart mit einer schlechten Schaltung.</p><p>Mit viel Adrenalin könnte ich das Bauteil austauschen (Ersatz liegt vor, Werkzeuge nicht)… falls nicht noch mehr nun kaputt ist. Oder eine neue Platine kaufen.</p><p>Tatsächlich überlege ich, einen anderen Synthesizer zu kaufen. Leider sehr teuer, am ehesten wäre der Sequential Prophet X ein Kandidat.</p><p>Problem: Der JD-XA zeigt wegen der schlechten Schaltung Foristen zufolge den Defekt nach ca. 3 Jahren erneut.</p><p>Problem 2: Beim Prophet X für NP 3,5k€ verreckt nach einiger Zeit das Netzteil. Außerdem wären meine geliebten Sounds weg.</p><p>Ratlosigkeit. Ein <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Synthesizer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Synthesizer</span></a> mit Samples und flexibler Effekt-Engine, aber auch klassischen Oszillatoren…?</p>
