@TheBreadmonkey I know you’re joking, but if we could just have ranked choice voting it would solve the problem of a bad choice winning over two good choices because the vote was split.

But the two corporate parties will never allow that. We recently tried in New Hampshire just for local votes, and just for municipalities who would like to do it, and the state still said no.

NOT a sponsored video, we just think it's a cool tool to learn about RCV 💜

Btw, did you know that we're trying to bring RCV to elections in IL? RCV gives voters more power and more choice and allows you to vote your true preference without fear of "wasting your vote" or "spoiling the election." Join us at FairVoteIllinois.org/join or click the 🔗 in bio!

"With Ranked Choice Voting in NYC, Women Win"

Before 2021, New York’s 51-member council had always been majority male. Women hadn’t even gotten close to a majority. The best showing had been 18 seats, just a tick above 35 percent.

That all changed with ranked choice voting (RCV). In 2021, voters elected not only a women-majority council but nearly doubled the previous high, with 31 seats.

New Yorkers: Wondering how Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) works? If you hate Candidate X, should you rank them last, or not at all? Here's a good guide:

TLDR: If you hate a candidate *don't rank them at all*. Take "1st choice, 2nd choice, etc." at face value. You don't have to rank 5; you can just do 1 or 2 if you like.
