Kopf hinter #Quickdraw:
Took advantage of the long week-end to make a new release of my personal project: QuickDraw viewer, a tool to visualise and convert QD images used on old Macintosh computer into something modern like PDF or PNG.
This was mostly a maintenance release, switching to Swift 6 and adding the relevant synchronisation annotations. It's far from perfect but it works. I also improved the localisation, and some the documentation.
In honor of Bill Atkinson, I’ve been reading the QuickDraw source code released by CHM and writing a little C implementation of his Region structure, which was an incredibly elegant solution to a problem so many people working on window systems never even realized they had. RIP Bill. #retrocomputing #BillAtkinson #QuickDraw

RIP Bill Atkinson
Go ahead. Take a look at the source code of Bill Atkinson's MacPaint and QuickDraw.
'MacPaint was written by Bill Atkinson, who was a member of the original Macintosh development team. He based it on his earlier LisaSketch (also called SketchPad) for the unsuccessful Apple Lisa computer, so he originally called it MacSketch. He started work on the Mac version in early 1983.
'Atkinson also created Quickdraw first for the Lisa, as LisaGraf. Andy Hertzfeld, another key member of the team, considers QuickDraw “the single most significant component of the original Macintosh technology” in its ability to “push pixels around in the frame buffer at blinding speeds to create the celebrated user interface.”'

"It was Mr. Atkinson who programmed QuickDraw, a foundational software layer used for both the Lisa and Macintosh computers; composed of a library of small programs, it made it possible to display shapes, text and images on the screen efficiently."

It's alive! Here's my short #animation, made in 48 hours, for Cardiff #QuickDraw using the prompt 'mini'.
I'm a big fan of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, so thought it would be fun to create something in a live action puppet style (during the YouTube screening someone referenced DHMIS, made me so happy! ).
All made in #b3d. Concept, modelling (apart from the park bench and ice cream truck), rigging, voice acting (apologies in advance) and animation all done by yours truly.
