After watching some YT videos about Star Wars: Battlefront II, I got myself a copy at #steam for cheap (I own it on console, though) and now I started (again) playing it, after so many years. And it's great! I can play it in 4k with everything maxed out.

The only thing that sucks (of course!) is #ea Electronic Arts. On PC, every time I want to play, I need to enter an authentication number that is sent to me via email. WHY?!

So, I bought a domain, and set up a tech blog, to make some sort of sense of the madness of my recent used laptop purchasing spree.

My first article is out, about the Geforce Now promotion going now, and my experiences with the service. This is part 1.

techchecked.net · GeForce Now (Part 1) -You may have read a bunch of articles about the summer “Geforce Now” sale. 29.99$ for 6 months, an advertised “Summer of Gaming”. Hurrah!!  As someone who has been streaming curious for a few years, I was intrigued by this offer of a “Summer of Gaming” for just 30 smackers.  I currently use moonlight to […]

Using the native GeforceNOW Steam-Deck app (Flatpak) on a Linux desktop computer with an AMD GPU does work amazing:

It does use HW Acceleration for the HEVC video decoding, which makes it extremely efficient and snappy. Currently it's only working with AMD GPUs.

# Add Flatpak Repo
flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists GeForceNOW international.download.nvidia.

# Install GFN
flatpak install --user GeForceNOW com.nvidia.geforcenow

# DIsabling Wayland ; Forching GFN to use X11/XWayland:
flatpak override --user --nosocket=wayland com.nvidia.geforcenow

# Getting the Log-In link from the Log-File
tac ~/.var/app/com.nvidia.geforcenow/.local/state/NVIDIA/GeForceNOW/console.log | grep starfleet/o-auth | head -n 1

# Launching GeforceNOW via gamescope compositor
gamescope -f -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 120 -- flatpak run com.nvidia.geforcenow

The performance is *significantly* better than in desktop browsers :)

NVIDIA brought the official GeForce NOW app for Steam Deck (Linux) - whatever yer current opinion for the company 🎮

The rise of Linux obviously noted - next move hopefully; open sourcing their GPU drivers (giving communities chance to make 'em good), eh 🙏

Linux keeps expanding on the gaming space EVEN in the ranks of those "usual suspects" 😉

Note: if you have the #Xbox Gamepass, you can link it to your GeforceNow account and play Xbox games on Linux. :)

Happy #gaming!

#GeForceNOW is now natively(!) at the Steamdeck. This is even better, than it might sound at first:

- Having the power of a RTX4090 in the palm of your hands
- Up to 4K60fps in docked mode on the TV
- Insane battery life (I did play Forza Horizon 5 and Witcher 3 for more than 7 hours!)

The combination of SteamDeck :steam_deck: and GeforceNow is just a heavenly good match!
