Like… I get the iPad had workflow shortcomings that definitely needed improvements and expansion

But I also know there was a crowd of people who were like “Hey #Apple could you please just put macOS on the iPad because I can’t be bothered to learn anything new or different ways of working” and… could those people just have.. not?

Like they could have just bought a Mac, because what they wanted was a Mac

Not an iPad

And they could’ve left the iPad alone

Instead we got this crap

Sigh

Some #iPadOS26 multitasking stuff is nice, but it lost some key conveniences and aspects of how I worked

1 - (Video below) You can no longer Cmd + Tab back to a Split View set of apps; everything is treated as its own app no matter how large or small and regardless of other apps on screen with it, just like a big dumb fat stupid Mac

2 - Slide Over is completely gone. I used it extensively

This sucks

Seems like the new #Apple OS 26 stuff has gone fairly smoothly in terms of not breaking apps or iCloud sync stuff

Anyone seen any major red flags, besides the fact it’s a beta?

Yes, I am losing my resilience against betas and I really want to try the iPad stuff

But my Pro is my main/daily driver by far. Maybe I’ll try it on mini only for now

's + is just a pile of 💩

It has a reasonable selection of articles and newspapers, but:

* Shows horrible, clunky ads in the middle of stories 🤬
* Insists on continuing to show articles from rags I've explicitly blocked, like the Torygraph 🤬
* Destroys the relationship between news media and their readers, no doubt to their great disadvantage in the long run 🤬🤬

Back to the future.. after eight years, and a lot of fucking around, I have managed to return my devices to syncing my calendars from my mac , rather than via . This web page helps with moving back to local syncing: rfwilmut.net/notes/icloudmovec

does not make this easy, as they want to lock you into their . But it didn't take TOO long!
