While this is a UK investigation, I regularly see farmed fish, esp branzino (a Mediterranean sea bass) from overseas in US markets - Even in coastal areas, where I can get excellent local fish. Why? Yes, it's cheaper. And why shouldn't we have cheap good food? Maybe because the low price doesn't reflect the actual costs. Pity a sustainability labeling folks don't look at a total impacts. Another area of market failure.

Fish farming - a false economy

Salmon farming is a drop in the ocean of Scotland’s economy, 0.2 per cent according to the Scottish government, yet its impact is disproportionately devastating. This is not a sustainable homegrown industry, it is Scottish taxpayers subsidising foreign-owned corporations whose loyalty lies not with Scotland but their bottom line.
