CHERCHE DADDY-CAMBOUIS OU LESBO-MÉCANO EN #IleDeFrance
#boostswelcome

I'm looking for some advice, maybe just a sharing of experiences. I'm thinking about changing careers, but not sure how to do it.

Let me give some background.

I'm finding lately that I'm not very happy with my career. I never intended to become a web developer. It just kind of happened. I do enjoy programming, but it's something I enjoy more as a hobby than a job. Nevertheless, I've been doing it full time for close to twenty years now. I'm also good at it, and am regularly praised by my coworkers for my work. And I make good money doing it. (And that's important to me.)

But I have a degree in theater. I thought I might be an actor when I was younger. I'm also good at that, but haven't done it for years. I miss doing things that are more creative. I miss acting.

I thought I might be able to find time to do other things in my non-work time, but honestly, I don't really have much time in my non-work time. My wife says she'd support me doing community theater or something like that. But, we've got four kids under the age of 15 (3 of whom are under 10), and three of them have ADHD, so they're a handful. If I were spending several hours a few days a week for a couple months at a time away from my family, I'd feel guilty, and wouldn't enjoy it.

So, I've thought maybe I could consider an actual career change.

But, I don't really know how I'd do it. I feel like if I tried to change careers, I'd have to take a huge pay cut (not an option at all), and who knows if I'd actually be any happier. I'm not even sure what I would do yet. I just know that I'd really like a change.

Has anybody on here tried a career change? Did it work out? Were you able to maintain close to your same salary? Any advice or thoughts on the process?

Optimierer nutzen? Welche Dachflächen auf einen String legen? Anderen Wechselrichter nutzen (3 #MPPT)? 2 WR hintereinander schalten?

I'm looking for a new job in software!

* I'm great at documenting ancient legacy or third-party systems and integrating them with newer ones.
* I've dealt a lot with esoteric domain-specific languages/formats, so I pick up new/weird stacks quickly.
* I'm one of those weirdoes who actually loves CSS and can write it cleanly and maintainably.
* I do plenty of sysadmin/ops work setting up and maintaining Linux/BSD systems.

I'm very good at "glue work" - the unglamorous chores of writing documentation, bridging communication barriers and running support. If your team is often blocked and frustrated, I can help.

I can work remotely (GMT), or hybrid near Edinburgh. I do have plenty of experience working asynchronously with teams spread across disparate timezones. If any of this sounds good, please do get in touch!

Help!

I serviced every part of it and it moves smoothly. I checked the carriage and cam timing best I could depending on my understanding of the system. Yet it piles up the thread like a daisy. Not sure if I thread it right since tension on the thread never feels right and spring on tensioner feels funny. Anybody can identify this issue?

#AskFedi: So I had my first larger print on my ender 3 V2, and ran into the travel limits (see top right). I know I can change those, but will have to build the firmware (Marlin) with an adjusted config.
What confuses me, however are the offsets: the travel windows is definitely not centred (approx margins [mm] are 2.5 and 12.5 on x, 5 and 10 on y)… (contd. in thread).
Any ideas what I might also have to change / check? Or hints about the former?

Looking for an artist comfortable with drawing dragons! This is for a gift for my husband-dragon. His ref is attached.

He badly needs a new headshot/icon, is the main thing, but if I can afford it I will try to get something with more of his body showing.

Let me know if you'd be interested in drawing him, and your prices, please! :3

Please boost! Thank you so much!! :3
