Mark Bray was teaching courses on #antifascism. Turning Point USA accused him of belonging to antifa, which he denies. His flight to Spain was canceled abruptly on Wednesday night.

In the weeks after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, he has become a target of right-wing hate, accused of being a part of the movement he studied. Jack Posobiec, a right-wing influencer, called Dr. Bray a “domestic terrorist professor” on X. The #Rutgers chapter of #TurningPointUSA then circulated a petition accusing Dr. Bray of being an “outspoken, well-known #antifa member” and called for him to be fired.

“My role in this is as a professor,” Dr. Bray, an assistant teaching professor at Rutgers, said..

Trump’s Blueprint to Crush the Left Draws from Decades of #Counterterrorism Policy

Trump's NSPM-7 is a pivotal policy endangering free expression in the United States.

from #DropSiteNews

If there was any question as to whether his Executive Order was merely bluster, #Trump clarified the matter three days later when he issued National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 (NSPM-7). Bearing Trump’s signature, #NSPM7 was clearly drafted with a deep understanding of the #US counterterrorism bureaucracy. It seeks to “disrupt” not just those allegedly carrying out left-wing violence, but those who fund it and those who “radicalize” and recruit individuals to partake in it. It declares domestic terrorism to be a top priority and defines domestic terrorism priorities to include “civil unrest” and “doxing.”

In the Aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s Murder: Defend Free Speech

By world-outlook.com on September 23, 2025

[In my opinion, this is an outstanding article, even if a bit long.]

The September 10 assassination of right-wing “influencer” #CharieKirk was an attack on free speech of the most serious and dangerous kind. It should be unequivocally condemned. Kirk’s murder served up an excuse on a silver platter for the #Trump administration and its allies to accelerate their assault on #democraticrights. The White House is now using the horrendous killing to propel Trump’s drive toward autocratic rule.

No matter how odious one’s ideas, eliminating an opponent in an act of violence does nothing to advance the cause of justice. It sets back every effort to win public opinion to defend democracy, which is preferable to any kind of dictatorial rule.

Mohsen Mahdawi, the 34-year-old #Palestinian student and #US permanent resident, returned to #ColumbiaUniversity on Tuesday and vowed to continue speaking out.

“They have failed to silence me, and in fact, now I am more outspoken than before, and I will continue to work for peace and justice. I do this work not for myself alone – I do this for the future of children, whether they are Palestinians or #Israelis,” he told the Guardian on Tuesday in his first interview since stepping back on to campus to begin his graduate studies.

University of #Michigan still punishing pro-#Palestine students after graduating

Arbitration hearings carried out this summer are overreach, former students say

Published date: 2 September 2025

A little over a year ago, Drin Shapiro was a student programme assistant at the #UniversityOfMichigan's (UM) English Language Institute, and a student in his final year of a bachelor's degree in history.

Since then, he has faced criminal charges brought by the state's attorney general, lost his on-campus job, spent time behind bars, and, as of last month, was still being disciplined by the university despite having graduated in May.

All of this was because he took part in a student encampment against the war on #Gaza on 21 May 2024. He was arrested during the police raid of the encampment and was later released on bond.

New Trump Order Among 'Scariest Things I've Seen in US Politics,' Civil Rights Attorney Says

...it orders the secretary to create a "standing #NationalGuard quick reaction force" that "can be deployed whenever the circumstances necessitate," not just in the nation's capital but in "other cities where public safety and order has been lost."

Monday's order calls for the creation of "an online portal for Americans with law enforcement or other relevant backgrounds and experience." Agency heads then "shall each deputize the members of this unit to enforce federal law."

If you want to protest in UK against a government that outlawed the pacifist organization "Palestine Action" with the anti-terrorism law, here is a plan for you:

1) Print the T-Shirt of the image below
2) Make a trip to UK
3) Wear the shirt at a public rally
4) Get unduly arrested under terrorism act for speaking the truth as nonviolent resistance against the authoritarian nature of regimes supporting ongoing genocide.

I spent decades at Columbia. I’m withdrawing my fall course due to its deal with #Trump

Columbia’s capitulation has turned a #university that was once a site of free inquiry and learning into a shadow of its former self, an-anti university, a gated security zone with electronic entry controls, a place of fear and loathing, where faculty and students are told from on high what they can teach and say, under penalty of severe sanctions. Disgracefully, all of this is being done to cover up one of the greatest crimes of this century, the ongoing genocide in #Gaza, a crime in which #Columbia’s leadership is now fully complicit.

Prominent historian cancels course at Columbia University over Trump deal

#RashidKhalidi, in open letter published by #Guardian, accuses university of ‘capitulating’ with $200m settlement

“Although I have retired, I was scheduled to teach a large lecture course on this topic in the fall as a “special lecturer” but I cannot do so under the conditions #Columbia has accepted by capitulating to the #Trump administration in June,” Khalidi wrote.

Columbia announced last week that it would pay more than $200m in a settlement with the federal government after the White House claimed the university failed to adequately address alleged antisemitism on campus amid protests over the #Israel-#Gaza war, and threatened to pull significant funding.

It’s Not Gaza Campus Protests That Endanger Jews, It’s Misguided Efforts to ‘Protect’ Them

"Inside, Khalil said he was denied his ulcer medication, forced to sleep under harsh fluorescent lights and fed “nearly inedible” food, causing him to lose 15 pounds (7 kilograms). “I cannot remember a night when I didn’t go to sleep hungry,” Khalil recalled.

Meanwhile, the #Trump administration publicly celebrated the arrest, promising to deport him and others whose protests against #Israel it dubbed “pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity.” "

AP News · Columbia protester Mahmoud Khalil files $20M claim against Trump administrationPalestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, whose role in campus protests against Israel led to his detention for over three months in immigration jail, is now seeking $20 million in damages from the Trump administration. His lawyers filed a claim Thursday, alleging false imprisonment and malicious prosecution after his March arrest by federal agents. Khalil, a legal U.S. resident, said he suffered severe anguish in jail, and continues to fear for his safety. The government has accused him of leading protests aligned with Hamas, but has not provided any evidence of a link to the terror group.

"On Friday, Judge Farbiarz rebuked the government mildly, noting that it had offered no evidence to suggest that Mr. Khalil was a danger to his community. The administration’s claims about his links to, or even sympathies for, #Hamas have not been substantiated in court.

“He is not a danger to the community, period, full stop,” the judge said."

Judge says US effort to deport Mahmoud Khalil on foreign policy grounds is likely unconstitutional

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge said the #Trump administration’s effort to deport #MahmoudKhalil because of his pro-#Palestinian activism at #ColumbiaUniversity likely violates the #Constitution.

In a lengthy order issued Wednesday, Judge Michael Farbiarz wrote the government’s primary justification for removing Khalil — that his beliefs may pose a threat to U.S. foreign policy — could open the door to vague and arbitrary enforcement.
