The sun shining low across the field gives an almost infra-red effect in this black and white photo of still water in part of an ancient moat. There is a low wooden structure to prevent cattle getting into danger, in front of a patch of reeds. Couple of stark winter trees on the horizon. The land to the top right of the water is the actual Pleasance, where buildings once stood for kings, queens and dukes to dine and dance. Black and white photo.

Pleasance moat. The Pleasance is a square raised area surrounded by a double moat, now mostly dry, built as a party site by Henry V, nearly a mile from Kenilworth Castle.
