Queen's College Old Library, Cambridge.

This library was established as part of the college's foundation in 1448 and has remained in its current location ever since. Most of the furniture is still original, as are the leather bindings of many medieval books, since Queen's was unable to afford rebinding its volumes as was fashion in the 18th century.

We made the most of the good weather today on our Scotland adventure, and took the ferry from Orkney main Island to Westray. The goal of the trip was to see some puffins and maybe some seals. Goal achieved! But there are some other things on the island, so we also checked out the ruin of Noltland Castle. Well worth the visit, and a nice view from there, also.

Looking out from an old castle window which no longer has any glass. The frame of the picture is the brown and grey stone wall of the castle. The window itself is rectangular. A field full of yellow flowers, which resolves into a more browny colour can be seen closest through the window. A further green field can be seen beyond the first field, and a farm house and sheds can be made out at the far side of that field. The waters of a small bay can be seen either side of the farm buildings, while a further green hill lies beyond. Further farm buildings can just be made out at the base of that hill on the other side of the bay. To cap the scene off, the blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds overlook the fields.
