Dear tech friends following the current attacks on science - are there movements to back up vital servers in other countries? Many invaluable data are also at risk. Please DM me where I can help!! #scienceForAll #scienceAgainstFascism
So do stand in solidarity, but, above all, be wary of what might be happening in your country and call it out before they get away with it!

3/3
Science is under attack in the US and I want to stand up for it! Today 3/7 big rallies are being held in the US to protest against the obscurantist policies by d. trump. Why is that?
1) Many scientists have either had their grants terminated or can’t access approved funding while national science agencies comply with Trump’s recent executive orders. These ban funding for diversity, “gender ideology”; & green energy projects. https://www.insidehighered.com/news/government/science-research-policy/2025/02/03/how-trumps-executive-orders-are-disrupting
2) trump’s order rolling back protections for transgender people.
The Office of Personnel Management directed agency heads to strip “gender ideology” from websites, contracts & emails. https://apnews.com/article/trump-gender-ideology-sex-pronouns-order-transgender-2d7e54837f5d0651ed0cefa5ea0d6301
3) Several federal government datasets were taken down including some large-scale national health surveys, indices, and data dashboards that inform research, policy making, and media coverage about health care and public health. https://www.kff.org/policy-watch/a-look-at-federal-health-data-taken-offline/
4) trump also ordered to cut funds to universities for research on topics such as Alzheimer, cancer, diabetes. The National Institute for Health stopped reviewing thousands of new grant applications. People will die b/c of this. https://www.nea.org/nea-today/all-news-articles/scientific-research-getting-cut-and-should-scare-all-americans
5) Tens of thousands of employees of science agencies were fired without reason and at short notice by the DOGE dept. led by Elon Musk. This is hard to believe and I want to believe that courts will reverse these orders. https://www.science.org/content/article/usda-ordered-reinstate-nearly-6000-fired-workers

11/ As the situation unfolds, it’s crucial for the public and the scientific community to stay informed and advocate for the free flow of accurate, inclusive health information. The stakes are too high to let politics dictate science. #ScienceForAll #ScienceMatters #HealthJustice
