A willow shades them on the edge of the image. On the other side is a broad flagstone road. Quote: “Look! Oh, look!” She gestured toward the statue, a stern scholar holding a golden vessel. Curled at its feet was a reddish-brown blob. “It’s Maiyoi!” She broke ranks, running forward. “Maiyoi, Maiyoi! We’re here! You’re here!” The brown shape shifted to purple, and Maiyoi-chan made a dramatic reappearance. Naturally, a simple greeting wouldn’t do. She greeted us with poetry, provoking Tomo to sigh even deeper than he had at my joke.
