Yesterday's sessions, under the theme "#OSPOS FOR GOOD," delved deep into how #OpenSource is fundamentally shaping #DigitalPublicInfrastructure (#DPI) and the evolving landscape of #AI.

We heard from leaders across public and private sectors, including @thegates Foundation, @sovtechfund, @TheLinuxFoundation, Capgemini, and Mercedes-Benz AG, showcasing real-world implementations from digital customs systems to instant payment platforms.

I joined Zentrum Digitale Souveränität (@zendis) a year ago, and it's flown by. It's been a complicated, often devastating, year politically, but it's been good being part of an organisation that seeks to counteract the current political climate of cut-throat deal-making with collaboration and #OpenSource technologies.

When I started out, as one of the first couple of employees, we were still waiting for our laptops to arrive. One of my first tasks was to support the #UN #OSPOs for Good conference, organising a welcome reception in NYC from afar (thankfully, the laptops had arrived by then).

OFE Policy Advisors Nicholas Gates and Axel Thévenet are in #Berlin to talk about all things #OSPOs and #OpenSource at #FOSSback!

Yesterday at 12:10, Nick moderated a panel entitled 'OSPOs for Good! Driving Achievement of the UN SDGs", where the panellists discussed last year's #OSPOsForGood conference and the upcoming #UNOpenSourceWeek.

This morning at 10:00, Axel presented his work on the European Commission's #OSORHandbook, which analysed open source policy developments across the #EU.

Today on Herding Cats, I'm reflecting on the events I've co-organised and attended recently, and how they can be used to foster meaningful relationships and create lasting impact.

The newsletter also includes a project that turns websites into interactive canvases and touches on the 2024 State of #OSPOs report. Happy reading 😺

P.S. Feedback and #OS projects to feature are always welcome - just send me a message. I'm also happy to feature guest authors, should you ever feel the itch to write about (tech) ecosystem and #community building 😉
