Have any of you found a less pricey accommodation in Zagreb for EuroBSDCon than the listed ones on https://eurobsdcon.org?
A bed and some outlet is all I need.
Even with the discount more than a 100€ just to sleep (pr. night) is just way off for my budget!

Dear friends of the #BSDCafe
Exactly two years ago, on 20th July 2023, I made a post announcing a new project: The BSD Cafe.
It was an idea I had been thinking about for a while, but never had the courage to truly take on. Yet, in those days, I pushed past my doubts, finalized the last bits of the setup, and decided to go public.
I never imagined the warmth, the kindness, the support I would receive. Friends started signing up, new friends arrived, and two years later I can proudly say that the community we’ve built is truly amazing.
The BSDs as our guiding star, technology as our shared passion, and - above all - acceptance and open-mindedness as our core values.
Supporters, not haters.
I’m genuinely happy about all this, and in my upcoming talk at #EuroBSDCon I’ll be sharing both technical and human sides of this experience.
Happy birthday, BSD Cafe. And thank you all, my friends, for making this such a wonderful journey.
The Cafe is always open. The coffee machine is always warm.
Your Barista,
Stefano

Have you ever attended a BSD-focused conference?
Events like EuroBSDCon bring together developers, users, and advocates from all over the world to share ideas, build skills, and connect in person.
EuroBSDCon 2025 in Zagreb is a great opportunity to experience the BSD community firsthand.
September 25–28, 2025

The FreeBSD Foundation is also offering travel grants to help you get there. Applications are open through August 5:

YOU!
The @bsdtv BSD A/V Team in conjunction with @bsdcan and @EuroBSDCon could use YOUR HELP with:
1. Locating official project slide templates
2. Validating them for readability on a projector and for the visually limited (I hear there are fonts that are dyslexia-friendy)
3. Integrating best practices into semi-official event slides for those presenters who simply want "insert content here"
No, I did not say required.
Thank you!
For those who missed last night’s updates, I’m thrilled to announce that @h3artbl33d and I will be co-presenting a talk at #EuroBSDCon: Liberating the Social Web Using #BSD.
We’ll be sharing our experiences and technical decisions along the way.
I’ll be focusing on the BSD Cafe - its services, the story behind it, and most importantly, the human and motivational factors that make this community so special.
Always remember: #OwnYourData !
Stay tuned for more updates!
I need to boost my overseas contacts and relationships, so it seems I'm going to Croatia in September. I guess they've forgotten how much trouble I caused last time? #eurobsdcon
Yay! Or maybe AIEEE! Seems like I'm giving a talk at #EuroBSDCon again this year!
Anyone who has been following me here for a while will know I'm a hopeless #retrocomputing nerd, and I will make no attempt at hiding it during my talk:
Dirty Tricks: Using nginx and Lua to thwart bots and skript kiddies
I'll (try to) show how you can protect your #BBS from drive-by portscans and your production systems from #DDoS attacks using all the wrong tools.
Dietary warning: may contain traces of floppies.
