--Undocumented immigrants have always been ineligible for benefits. This is the first thing social workers are taught to verify. If they are using someone else's card, it's against the law and can be prosecuted.
--The majority of people are White.
--The majority of people are employed.
But why make people jump through hoops to begin with? Start with a #BasicIncome and people can get a good square meal three times a day.
Amazon estimates that up to 500,000 warehouse jobs could eventually be replaced by robots. I'm all for progress, but not at the expense of hundreds of thousands of families. We have no plan in place to help these people retrain. #BasicIncome and unions for all. #1u

The #NoKings protests were great. 7 million people attended. But if we don't question the system and demand real change, #Trump will continue to win. Or we'll win for four or eight years and the GOP will regain control. We need #BasicIncome, #MedicareForAll, strong unions, and a #GreenNewDeal.
A lot of praise internationally for Ireland's innovative Basic Income for the Arts scheme, just extended by the current government, but little mention that it was introduced by a Green Party minister, Catherine Martin. As always success has many parents.....

Takeaway: We need both policies!
Wouldn’t it be something to see this rolled out to people working on free (as in freedom) technology for the common good so we didn’t have to bake in ways of surviving under the current capitalist system into the tech we’re designing just so we can pay the “cost of living?”
“Sustainable” under capitalism has a very different meaning – it means making a profit (even if you’re a not-for-profit) whereas “sustainable” in general has no such connotation.
