Most of the sea ice in the #Arctic Ocean was around 0.5-2 meters thinner than the 1981-2010 average in March 2025. The largest anomalies were north of Greenland and the Lincoln Sea.

I've added a new visualization of #Antarctic sea ice thickness averaged by year, which parallels my version for the #Arctic by design. However, unlike the Arctic, there aren't any obvious long-term trends (annual mean).

I just updated my monthly mean #Arctic sea ice thickness graph with data through all of 2024 from CryoSat-2 (satellite).

Note the data length is too short to assess long-term trends, but reveals important variability. Visualization: https://zacklabe.com/arctic-sea-ice-volumethickness/

Sea ice extent in the Bering showing little change overall. Well below normal temperatures and prevailing north winds over the central and eastern Bering Sea for the past week have maintained the ice. @Climatologist49 @ZLabe
