In 2025, to keep the #AUSPEX momentum, I thought about posting one daily loop then assembling a weekly snapshot to make a 52 track mix for the whole year.

I've written down a set of rules to define how a pattern should evolve, but I realize the result would be more interesting if I loosened the rules and just focused on releasing one track per week, while keeping this daily evolving mix idea.

So... this year I'm kind of doing my own #WeeklyBeats.

I'll post new tracks on Sundays :)

Week 23 of #WeeklyBeats is a collaboration!

@Xjs and I were at #GPN22 two weeks ago and decided to jam together, record some loops, and then have each of us finish a track with that material on his own. The results are

"Goulash"

and "untenrum"

Collabs are fun! I should do more of them. Also, live jamming is too, but setting it up turned out more work than expected.

Enjoy the tracks!

Okay yeah, as expected, the mastering on #WeeklyBeats #15 is a mess. There was some clipping in the exported song, but I had run out of time to fix it.

I'm nevertheless quite satisfied with the track, even though it's darker than what I usually create or enjoy.

If you listen to it, I highly recommend real speakers or headphones, no tinny laptop or smartphone speakers, because the mix only sounds worse on them.

Doing #WeeklyBeats for a quarter of a year now. What started as a way to force myself to actually _do_ something with the music gear I have on a regular basis, to try to learn it and get into it has achieved just that: I'm learning by doing, getting faster and more experienced.

This week I made my first track longer than 5 minutes. Is it #synthwave? Not sure. At least it starts like it. 🤷‍♂️

It comes from a place of great melancholy, so don't be too hard on me please ;)

My #WeeklyBeats track number 11 is "Flourish", a somewhat minimal, (literally) liquid d&b track with some outdoor sounds sprinkled in.

Liquid is one of my favorite genres, and it was fun to produce this one, walking around with the #SynthstromDeluge playing in my bag, walking in tempo. :)

With a bit more time, this would've been a better (and longer) track, but this is the time I had, and it's the track I got.

With 2½ minutes left before the deadline, I've uploaded #WeeklyBeats track 08, "Headache".

Definitely getting more confident with the #M8Tracker. I love some of the possibilities it brings to the table, especially when it comes to complex sequencing, but on the other hand I find it so tedious to enter notes, even when using MIDI. Let's see whether I find a good way to combine it with the #Deluge and get the best of both worlds.

New #WeeklyBeats track!

"Chapter Four" sees me dipping my toes into #LoFi territory – and petroleum refining.

This is yet another standalone #Deluge track. It's being carried almost exclusively by #Freesound samples, but after browsing samples for half a day I have to say that sample selection is work, too.

It also made me appreciate commercial sample collections more, because the quality at Freesound is mostly … mediocre.
