The #Tech Recruitment Ruse That Has Avoided #Trump’s Crackdown on #Immigration
“This ad is for a PERM filing,”she said. “A filing for a green card.”
To anybody familiar w/the #PERM system, those words meant the ad was not really intended to find applicants.…One of the most overlooked yet consequential corners of the US immigration system: the process by which employers sponsor #TechWorkers w/temporary #H1B #visas as a first step to getting them the #GreenCard….

#Dubai’s #AI #jobmarket attracts #techworkers with its Golden Visa programme, tax-free income, and high salaries. https://restofworld.org/2025/golden-visa-ai-jobs-uae/?eicker.news #tech #media #news
The fancy AI company, and every post on your bosses LinkedIn, is telling them that AI GIVES at least 30% of productivity boost. It doesn't matter the specifics.. It doesn't matter your opinion about it. They will push AI because, in their minds, they see profit potential. Also, they think that the competition is doing the same.
It's all about capitalists ambition and fear making pression in the weakest spot. The tech workers will be squeezed.
And you know what’s fun? (Read: not!)
If Booking CEO Glenn D. Fogel were to get fired for no reason, they’d get $111,026,960
And as a regular worker? What do you get??
At the same time as it’s making billions in profits, Booking is planning to lay off masses of workers at its Amsterdam offices.
Why?
Supposedly because … “organizational agility”
Do you know how much money Booking*com made in 2024? No??
$5.88 billion.
Yes, that’s **BILLION**.
A must-read piece from a tech worker at Google, arguing for a worker-led “AI arms embargo”: https://www.thenation.com/article/society/google-employee-speaks-out-war-contracting/
This is where my clear tech workers bias shows. This shit has been prevalent in transportation, retail, chain restaurants, factory work, anywhere they have high turnover or hire and fire large groups of people regularly. I had Neighbor’s kids answer weird personality questions with the camera on to judge their fit for a role. That was for an analyst role at a large financial institution before this recent AI takeover!
