Despite many successes in establishing #OpenGovernmentData and #DataGovernance practices in all branches and sectors of government, we are still facing three main challenges:

- Lack of central data strategy and strong leadership with vision #DatenStrategieBund
- A low general level of #dataliteracy, with more learning opportunities needed
- Interoperability and #FAIRdata Principles need further investment

Petra Keller Guéguen #BFSOFSUST calls for renewed cooperation in data politics and policymaking #BFH_TRANSFORM

The latest report (in German) on the costs and impacts of #OpenGovernmentData from the Federal Office of Topography #swisstopo is a validation and critique of advocating for data as a public good.

For governments this paper should be a nice check on expectations and outcomes, for example for Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology #MeteoSwiss - who from 1 April 2025 plans to make its data available for free reuse.
