What did #Morrison do to deserve Australia’s highest honour?

Just look at the extent his government shovelled taxpayer dollars to consultants compared to the last ten years.

All those consultancies donated back to the #LNP.

Let’s see … can I spell systmic corrptn … systomec coruptn … cystemic coruptn … no, it seems not. I guess I won’t be referring it to the #NACC (National Anti Corruption Commission) then ….

Day 22 ⚖️⚔️🇦🇺

“I’m in jail because I stood up to Government who has lost respect for #truth and #law, and the nation of Australia, and sacrifices our nation for their own selfish re-election campaigns”

“Probably only one thing is guaranteed about this election: that in three years time #Australia will be in worse shape that it is now.

That is because our system promotes ‘window-dressing’: pretending to do good things with expensive #PR and #media campaigns, while actually doing the opposite. The party which tells the biggest boldest lies, and makes promises that it has no intention of keeping, will win. Australia will lose. A hung parliament is our only hope for progress.

If you want to understand the concept of #WindowDressing, all you have to do is consider how #Labor came in on a promise of more transparent government, a better deal for #women and #ClimateAction. Its hard not to smile in a black-humoured way when those three things are now considered in light of the last three years.” — #DavidMcBride

Now out in @pnasnexus.org@bsky.app :
"#Neuroforecasting reveals generalizable components of choice" (link below)!

Led by the intrepid Alex Genevsky , we examined how deep brain activity (in the Nucleus Accumbens or #NAcc ) can forecast choices out of sample in much larger groups (e.g., in #crowdfunding and #videoviewing markets).

We found that while behavioral forecasts depended on demographic match, neural forecasts (from the NAcc) did not, potentially supporting inferences from smaller samples. So, beyond considering #representativeness of a sample, researchers might also benefit from considering representativeness of different choice components.

Thanks to the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute #Neurochoice Initiative for support, to the reviewers for constructive suggestions, and to #PNASNexus for a smooth publishing experience!

Just when you thought the NACC, Robodebt, and lack of accountability couldn't get any worse...

Roni Salt on Xitter:

Paul Brereton Authorised Asking The Alleged Perpetrators, Inc Kathryn Campbell, For Their Input Into The #Nacc's Media Statement

The Investigators Asked The Alleged
Perpetrators If They Were Ok With What The Investigators Were Saying About Them!

x.com/RonniSalt/status/1852118

X (formerly Twitter)Ronni🧂Salt (@RonniSalt) on XNot only that, but the #NACC head Paul Brereton, who claimed he had "recused" himself, then inserted himself into the media statement process (that had been amended by his friend Kathryn Campbell's lawyer) saying it was all fine and he approved it. I have no words for this.

The Commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, Paul Brereton, investigating the Robotdebt scandal - which saw billions of dollars in debt illegally levelled against extremely vulnerable people, some of who took their lives - decided not to proceed against a close personal friend, reportedly Kathryn Campbell, who ran the scheme.

While the investigation took place, Campbell was removed from secretary of DFAT and placed in a 'senior appointment' role at Defence involving AUKUS with a very high six figure salary, reportedly close to $900 thousand per year.

So now we have a situation where the investigation of alleged corruption in Canberra, involving deaths and billions of dollars, now itself sits under a cloud of potential corruption.

This is insane, and it is just what we *know* about.

If even our senior politicians can't create an anti-corruption body that is effective in its role, one of the key policies and mandates they were elected to enact at the 2022 election, we need new politicians.
