Two light-brown gilled mushrooms with light-beige gills and stems between logs. The smaller of the two, whose cap is about 1 cm in diameter and resembles a hat, is in sharp focus, the cap of the larger one is almost hemispherical. In addition to the dark logs, some light-brown leaves and brown beech leaves can also be seen, which harmonize beautifully with the mushrooms.

Daldinia spp, probably childiae ( see Michael Kuo), commonly known as carbon balls or St Alfred's cakes, because Alfred specialized in burning them. These were growing on small branches blown into our yard by a storm.

This fungus, commonly known as carbon balls, grows as a round hard ball colored black or brown. These black ones are growing clustered together on a small branch, which I put on a piece of fence to photograph. There is a partial one on the right, showing the concentric rings that can also be seen if you cut one open.

Fashionable muted hues on these Turkey Tail [Trametes versicolor] mushrooms.

Looking down at an angle at a moss covered fallen branch in the woods. It is nearly covered with shell-like flat mushrooms growing out from the side. The tops are a multitude of colors, all muted, of tans, grays, browns, and white. There are approximately 75 mushrooms pictured.

Walking on aged concrete sidewalks in the area, I keep seeing these whitish splotches. I noticed after the snow, when wet, the splotches had relief to them. Lichens! Patches of small, pale green lichens. (Peltula spp? ID help?) Probably Aspicilia contorta, sidewalk lichen h/t @Hagukh

Very small roundish pale green lichens less than a quarter cm wide grow on aggregate concrete sidewalks. They look like tiny sacks with an opening on top. Some of the openings have a brownish coloration, which are probably apothecia.

Hairy curtain crust mushroom (Stereum hirsutum) sometimes called false turkey tail is a small mushroom with colorful caps, no stipe and a smooth poreless undercap. Here I have a photo of a clump of wet caps showing the color striation, and a photo of one just growing out of the dead branch, showing its coarse hairs.

Hairy curtain crust mushrooms are growing on a dead branch on the ground. The wavy, rain-soaked caps have color striations ranging from deep red at the center, to dark brown to golden brown, with a creamy rim. The caps look a bit like fans.

Funeral bell, deadly skullcap or deadly galerina: the common names for Galerina marginata are ominous! This common wood-rotting mushroom is as toxic as death cap mushrooms, so don't even taste it.

Three deadly galerina mushrooms grow on a green mossy log, displaying their tawny hemispherical caps. The paler cap edges look slightly wavy. You can see the stems with a ring below the caps.

A couple of deadly galerina mushrooms pulled out of the moss display their creamy white gills and the tan stems.

Blue green fruticose lichen grow up along the face of a fence. The lichen has stem-like structures that look as if they are covered with powdery scales. A couple are topped with bright red apothecia.

Fuzzy white caps emerge from a dead tree trunk like piles of sugar powdered cookies

As the mushrooms age, they often turn cream colored. You can see how fuzzy they are

Looking at the underside of split gill fungi, you can see that the gills look a bit like a fan. The edge of the cap shows the densely packed hairs which have a soft spongey texture,
