@goatsarah Sorry to change the subject slightly, but another area is furniture. Almost all my furniture is pre-1990 stuff that I got second-hand. I threw out all my new IKEA furniture after they begun failing within 3-12 months of buying them. I thought I'd found a quality furniture store recently, but it turned out their furniture was second-hand. I've become convinced that it's not possible to buy quality, first-hand furniture anymore.
