I just installed @murena's #deGoogled #Android /e/OS on a #Pixel5 with their free #EasyInstaller app and God has this become a simple task.
I mean *anybody* with basic computer skills and a compatible phone can get themselves a more #privacy-friendly Android with this.
And before you reply Oh they're just stealing from #LineageOS and also use an outdated #Bromite and there is still connections with Google servers, etc:
Yes, but the OS ships with an auto-updating app store, a free email address plus @nextcloud account, and a fully functioning @microg. This is what non-techies need.
@ilumium Just curious, since the device is a Pixel, what makes you prefer /e/OS over GrapheneOS? There is sandboxed Google Play if you have apps that need Google Play services. You can limit sandboxed Google Play to a secondary profile.
@je5perl To be honest, I never had the chance to try Graphene myself. The Pixel is for a family member and I preferred to set it up with software I know will work for them. If I had a Pixel myself I'd definitely run Graphene.
