Hossam Baghat, executive director of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights – which co-signed the open letter – was arrested last Thursday on charges of “terrorism” and “broadcasting false statements”. Baghat has since been released on bail.

Our concerns that the EU could enable further political repressions if it signs - cooperation agreements are real. We stand in solidarity with our partners in Egypt fighting for human rights.
