1/2 Yesterday my wife and I flew from the heat into the mountains. We did some climbing and hiking near the Grimsel. Slab climbing on granite. It's challenging for the calf muscles and for the mind as there is just noting to hold on but perfect to train your trust in your feet as well as finding and feeling tiny pockets for placing your feet.

A picture of the slab route upwards. The first pitch is dark grey-brown granite with a lot of grip. It was possible to walk up to the first stand. After that the granite changes its coulour to a greenish gray with much less grip. The left side of the summit is covered with bushes and small trees. Thin white clouds on a bright blue sky.
Time for a break after the third pitch. On the left hand side the greyish granite. Down in the valley dark green trees and light green meadows. The Grimsel pass street is down there with tiny cars, barely visible. In the background high, rocky mountains with rests of snow. A few clouds on the blue sky.
My wife wearing a bright blue jacket, a yellow backpack and a blue helmet is abseiling on two ropes, one yellow and the other one blue. Dark, dry moss covers the rock at the bottom part of the route. Thin white clouds on the blue sky.
My wife an me lying in the sun on big boulders. Above our heads some green grass and yellow flowers in between the boulders. Our faces are covered by our helmets as a sun protection, only the throat and one ear is visible. The helmet of my wife is a dark blue with a black back, mine is red also with a black back, I wear a read long sleeve.

@stk wow, that looks challenging. I'm intrigued: Does this "slab climbing" mean you essentially "walked" up the granite slope (while keeping balance etc.)? One of the photos looks like that's what you did, but it's hard to gauge the steepness from a 2d photo, where you can't quite tell the perspective.
