Amadeus Paulussen<p>Dear <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/linuxaudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linuxaudio</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/pipewire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pipewire</span></a> users. I'm not sure if any of you have bothered to change the device nicknames with <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wireplumber</span></a> on your systems to tidy things up (see e.g. <a href="https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/WirePlumber" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">wiki.archlinux.org/title/WireP</span><span class="invisible">lumber</span></a>).<br>You can use a GUI application called "Simple Wireplumber GUI" to do so. See: <a href="https://github.com/dyegoaurelio/simple-wireplumber-gui" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/dyegoaurelio/simple</span><span class="invisible">-wireplumber-gui</span></a></p>
Guido Günther<p>·..and here's how the volume controls currently look in mobile settings. We get the list of controls from <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wireplumber</span></a> too and<br><a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/phosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>phosh</span></a>'s volume slider gets the highest priority volume so the top panel's volume slider does "the right thing" by default. (I've linked the related MRs from <a href="https://gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/meta-phosh/-/issues/20" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/meta-p</span><span class="invisible">hosh/-/issues/20</span></a>)</p>
Guido Günther<p>With the alarm clock waking the phone from suspend we still need to make sure the alarm sound is audible. We thus need it to have a volume level separate from e.g. media, notifications, calls, etc. This is possible with <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wireplumber</span></a>'s "role based policy". There's a lot of lose ends to fix before this all can land but here's a quick demo in <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/phosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>phosh</span></a> (the alarm sound your is played via <a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/feedbackd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>feedbackd</span></a> which adds the necessary role):</p><p><a href="https://ruhr.social/tags/LinuxMobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxMobile</span></a></p>
Kyle Bronsdon<p>Any <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> people have <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/midi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>midi</span></a> issues with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fedora</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/silverblue" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>silverblue</span></a> 42? Looks like it may have something to do with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wireplumber</span></a> config files, maybe? <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Reaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reaper</span></a> seems unable to see midi-bridge that I can see is there in qpwgraph.</p>
Fedora Project<p>Wireplumber is the session manager for <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@pipewire" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>pipewire</span></a></span>, helping to provide stability and flexibility to your Linux system. You can also do scripting with Lua!</p><p>➡️ <a href="https://fedoramagazine.org/introduction-to-wireplumber/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">fedoramagazine.org/introductio</span><span class="invisible">n-to-wireplumber/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Wireplumber</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Pipewire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Pipewire</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/OpenSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenSource</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Lua" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lua</span></a></p>
ploum<p>Trying to figure out why my :debian: sid silenced the mic. It looks like a pipewire/wireplumber issue. If I switch my profile from "stereo input + stereo output" to "proaudio" in pavucontrol then set the default input to "pro 6" (see screenshots), internal mic is working. (but plugged-in not).</p><p>Any idea to identify the issue in order to report the bug against the faulty package (that’s why I use Sid in the first place)?</p><p>My brain is stuck in Alsa/ESD era ;-)</p><p><a href="https://mamot.fr/tags/debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>debian</span></a> <a href="https://mamot.fr/tags/pipewire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pipewire</span></a> <a href="https://mamot.fr/tags/wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wireplumber</span></a></p>

I really couldn't be happier. 🤓</p>
syd 💕<p>wanted to go outside see the sunset but was took hooked by my amazement of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/bluez" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluez</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wireplumber</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pipewire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pipewire</span></a>. Between two Linux devices, I can use all the fancy Bluetooth codecs - including duplex Opus, which means I can forward audio into both directions from one machine. Even better, I'm able to connect one computer to a Bluetooth headset and then forward the Audio via Bluetooth from another computer (basically nesting Bluetooth), but avoiding connecting multiple devices to the same headset.</p>
Ercanbrack<p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/linuxtablet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linuxtablet</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/linuxaudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linuxaudio</span></a> One thing I learned is that pipewire’s concept of what a session is and does is different from JACK’s concept. <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/wireplumber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wireplumber</span></a>, the current <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/pipewire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pipewire</span></a> session manager does not include the ability to save and restore audio applications (along with their jack connections. This is the whole point of <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/jack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jack</span></a> session management—to easily come back to a project later and not have to hook everything up again before starting to work on a project.</p>
