The dogwood
A #poem

A dogwood I planted
back when my dad died
reminds me of my home
that I had to leave behind

It blooms now every year
right on his death day
Its white flower is his angel
so he’s with me on my way

The cat has left the cradle
and the silver spoon is gone
and the little boy blue
is now a man walking on

The NRA owns every officer-involved shooting in this country. The lax gun laws they champion mean that every time a cop stops someone, they worry that it might be their last stop. And so fear leads to escalation, leading to tragic ends like this. washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/20 #Virginia #GunControlNow

😢 Rep. #GerryConnolly, the top #Democrat on the #House #Oversight & Government Reform Committee, will step down from his leadership post on the panel & will not run for reelection.

The #Virginia Democrat, whose constituency includes many #FederalWorkers, cited the return of his esophageal #cancer — first diagnosed in late 2024 — as the reason for his planned departure.

It’s exciting that the #virginia #governor #election will feature 2 choices: a black woman republican or a white woman democrat. I expect republican heads to explode. What I’m hoping is that racism will cause the republicans to not even show up, and so we will get our first woman governor and she will be awesome.

Live in USA? The time to go solar is NOW.

If you have roof or ground space, you're going to want to use it. Electric rates are skyrocketing. I've had solar since 2017, so I didn't realize how high the rates are here in MD.

You don't need a wad of cash either. With the utility rates this high, even a zero-down loan or lease-to-own program can put you ahead.

Lastly, if you don't have space for solar, look into your local community solar projects and see if you can get a share.

The anti-climate idiots will try to get rid of the tax credit. So start researching now. EnergySage is a good start to help avoid scam installers. If you're local to WV panhandle, MD, PA or VA, the company I work for has exceptional ratings.

PS: Have gas or oil heating? Get a high efficiency heat pump (there are often programs to assist with the cost). You can't make gas, but you can make electricity!!
