Angenommen ich möchte einer Person auf Basis eines alten Thin-Clients ein kleines #NAS mit USB-Platten (ja, ich weiß, nicht ideal, nervt nicht) hinstellen, das im besten Fall noch Anwendungen via Docker betreiben kann. Die Person aber hat wenig Lust, sich damit (intensiv) befassen zu müssen. Im Idealfall läuft das Teil einfach und Updates/Upgrades des Systems lassen sich möglichst einfach einspielen. Mensch hat Linux-Erfahrung, administriert aber nix.
Was für ein OS nehme ich da? #OpenMediaVault? #TrueNAS? Was anderes? 
#Unraid fällt eher raus, weil das Preismodell von denen insane ist.

Die Gitlab Installation hat abgespeckt. Statt wie bisher ~20 Gigabyte benötigt sie seit gestern noch ~2.3 Gigabyte RAM.
Es lohnt, sich ab und zu mal in der Dokumentation zu lesen.

Ein wenig stresst mich der aktuelle Zustand des Systems. Gitlab belegt 18 Gigabyte RAM, ein Minecraft Server 9,2 Gigabyte, den Rest teilen sich etwa 20 weitere Docker Container.
Eine präzisere Überwachung und eine Reduktion des Verbrauchs wären sinnvoll, doch dafür fehlt mir aktuell die Zeit.
My flash drive in my Unraid server was going bad so went down the road of replacing it.
Ordered multiple sets of different flash drives from amazon and non of them would work because they had no GUID.
Any Unraid recommended drives were no longer available. Eventually found an old drive that worked.
Unraid needs to find another way to manage their licensing.

Hey folks, my cranky old #Synology #NAS is getting full and I'm thinking about upgrades. I don't think I want to buy another commercial NAS and I have an AM5 motherboard doing literally nothing. Sny opinions on #unraid vs #truenas ? (I mostly use for #plex streaming and local backups) but may consider moving my #HomeAssistant install to the box too in the future). #homelab
Finally upgraded to #Unraid 7.0.1. I was nervous but it went much better than I expected. Looks like they worked out a bunch of kinks with the point release. Now I'm up to date.

I just realised that #unraid is license-/subscription-based?
That directly excludes it from the list of viable options unfortunately 
But I could indeed take inspiration from the different hardware builds that people describe.

PSA: Now is a good time to pull some local copies of datasets and knowledge bases.
Spinning up a small homelab for stuff like #kiwix and backups is easy with #unraid and doable (with some IT-foo) with #truenas. #yunohost is an easy, but less flexible option if you don’t know shit about IT and just want it to work.

Pues ya lo tendríamos todo restaurado y funcionando al 100% (o por lo menos aparentemente).
En el próximo capítulo migraré el #UnRAID de un HP Proliant ML110 G7 al Dell PowerEdge T330 que se ha quedado en paro.
