Una vez que los preparas un poco son muy sencillos de crear y ampliar.
Aparte de lo que te han comentado de la Wikipedia, algo parecido con #OpenStreetMap. Me refiero a que con Umap, por ejemplo, buscas sitios que ya existen y les pones un pin con su texto, etc.
Pero es probable que haya edificios o lugares que no figuren todavía en #OSM y sería bueno darlos de alta.
Para eso es muy sencillo @MapComplete donde vas creando los sitios, dando detalles y subiendo fotos a base de que te pregunte. Por lo que no necesitas saber de cómo se configuran los lugares para crearlos.
Tiene una categoría que es Monumentos conmemorativos que igual puede valer tal cual y te va a hacer preguntas relacionadas con monumentos.

uMap just released version 3.0, first one to officially support real-time collaborative editing. But also, very importantly: "a first version of a real undo/redo", which used to be a recurring problem when I ran training (a Ctrl + Z would undo all the changes you've made since the last save).
