I'm having terrible difficulty getting a variety of apps on my Android phone to play custom notification sounds from wav or mp3 files. I can choose the relevant files as notifications sounds in the apps' internal settings menus, but I get either silence or the default notification sound when there's a notification. The files play successfully in my music player app. Anyone have any advice, please?

I updated to the latest version of “Ice Cubes”, the Mastodon client. Now I’m not getting notified of posts in my notifications section. I went a day without a single notification, and thought it was really strange. I went into the app, and found long conversations that I had completely missed out on. Time for some troubleshooting to determine whether my install is corrupted, or if the new version has a bug, or if there is a problem on my OS.

One of the USB ports on my Ryzen 7040 Framework Laptop 13 stopped working some time ago, after a firmware update I think. Rebooting didn't help, leaving it powered off for some time didn't either. Even another firmware update didn't fix it.

But a mainboard reset as described in community.frame.work/t/diy-fw- did.

1. Disconnect charger.
2. Remove input cover (can stay attached).
3. Reconnect charger.
4. Hold chassis switch down for 2 seconds, 10 times.
5. Reassemble.

It has been an interesting week for PC technical issues:

Stardew Valley suddenly couldn't connect online. I play this with my fiancee who lives in another country so it was particularly vexing. Turns out it was a Linux update to 'glibc', a rare update from them that knowlngly broke user-space (A Linux dev no-no). It actually broke Discord too but you didn't see that because Discord got a fix in place in a hurry.

And the
Vivaldi browser developed a weird habit of opening KDE's shortcut page in Settings every time it was opened. The culprit here is Chromium, upon which Vivaldi is based, seemingly having introduced this bug in the recent update to v134.

Workarounds are now in place for both, soothing my sanity.

Stardew Valley ForumsLinux - Galaxy API not loading with glibc 2.41Description: The Galaxy API is failing to load after a recent update from glibc 2.40 to 2.41. Downgrading the C Library fixes the issue, proving it is the recent version that broke the Galaxy API.
