I will be going to London, UK and Paris, France from mid-to-end of August to speak at a conference and do some research for my PhD:

Does anyone have good suggestions for queer archives, design, or textile-related things to check out in and around those cities?

Yesterday, I was at Oakwell Hall in Birstall for World Stitch Day & the launch of the WOVEN textile festival.

As well as workshops & demonstrations by local groups, there was a talk by Kirstie Macleod about The Red Dress: a global embroidery project, featuring work from 370 artists in 51 countries.

The dress is at Oakwell throughout June: it is stunning in person 😍

There are 100+ other events happening in Kirklees for WOVEN too:

this is a project by the extremely talented Hayley Mortin, a.k.a. dazy_chains on instagram, an artist working with knitting and computation — they don't have a presence here so i'd like to spread the word 💓

Dazy ChainsPREORDER - NEEDLEBOUND VOLUME 2 (PHYSICAL COPY)Needlebound Volume 2 arrives in a moment of digital fragility, asking what remains when platforms disappear. As the scaffolding of social media...

The kitty blanket is finished! I'm so chuffed with it, but also a little sorry to be done #knitting it, because it was fun to make. My partner loves it, and asked me to make more for our den. The #cats continue to produce fur, so I see more #handspinning in my future. This is a blend of Jacob #wool and cat #floof that I spun. It is WARM! The pattern is my variation of the famous 10 stitch blanket by Frankie Brown. More details in the alt text. #handmade #fiberarts #textiles #homespun
