Yesterday, I was at Oakwell Hall in Birstall for World Stitch Day & the launch of the WOVEN textile festival.

As well as workshops & demonstrations by local groups, there was a talk by Kirstie Macleod about The Red Dress: a global embroidery project, featuring work from 370 artists in 51 countries.

The dress is at Oakwell throughout June: it is stunning in person 😍

The kitty blanket is finished! I'm so chuffed with it, but also a little sorry to be done #knitting it, because it was fun to make. My partner loves it, and asked me to make more for our den. The #cats continue to produce fur, so I see more #handspinning in my future. This is a blend of Jacob #wool and cat #floof that I spun. It is WARM! The pattern is my variation of the famous 10 stitch blanket by Frankie Brown. More details in the alt text. #handmade #fiberarts #textiles #homespun

A hand knit afghan-sized blanket is spread out to dry on some beach towels. The blanket is a rectangle made in a spiral, starting with a strip in the middle, which turns each corner at right angles. The colors shift organically from creamy white to dark charcoal gray. Running down the center of each strip is a line of small lace motifs resembling a cat track.
