More bread. And a job this morning to make more dough for baking tomorrow.
And then trying to make Turkish bread over the weekend.

Milked 850 cows this morning. Chopped some firewood. Soup’s on (a soupçon of soup, son). Sourdough mixed for baking tomorrow.
Might do less this afternoon.
1. baking my #sourdough focaccia RN (made a starter from scratch, autolyze prepped Wednesday morning, overnight proofed)
2. cowork with nutritionist friend today, collaborating on something for the Filipino community for the Lapu Lapu incident. #ICYMI June is #FilipinoHeritage month.
3. heartwarming messages from tech folks about wanting to meet IRL when they're in Vancouver.
Met so many people online who are passing thru or visiting VanCity thanks to conferences or personal travel and I'm pleased to be invited to meetup.
Key Learning & Takeaway: What a vibe to meet folks face to face, shake hands, get/give hugs. It's like meeting an old friend because of having talked online for a while before actually meeting :) @3goodthings
A loaf of rosemary-olive oil bread is what got me started as a baker probably 17 years ago, when I balked at paying $6 every time I wanted to buy one. Baked this one today, with a recipe (that I tweaked) by the guy who made the one I bought all those years ago.

It’s been chilly, grey and overcast, so I put together this loaf of whole wheat #sourdough. Baking sourdough feels a bit like gambling. I always have to keep my fingers crossed but this time the wild yeast did its thing. The house smells amazing right now.
I made some dough yesterday evening and stuck it into the fridge before bed. It's slow to get started today, but that's just as well as I'm busy. Need to get it baked off this afternoon, if it would only catch up.
I'm impressed! I had to make a new sourdough starter after being away from home for a month. The starter only took eight days and three feedings before it seemed ready! Usually, it takes two weeks or more. And here's the loaf, nice and puffy! It will be nice to taste real bread again! Now waiting for it to cool...

Lunch time is almost upon us, and the #bread is still warm. I think the fresh buns will be nice for a cheese-and-pickle sandwich.
My super grainy #bread rising overnight was eager to get going this morning!
Three good things today
1. Found a sourdough focaccia recipe I love, and ate it (the focaccia, not the recipe) for dinner. It's super sour if you take the overnight option. (I'll link it at the bottom)
2. Planted some more of my food forest-y back yard. I'm looking forward to summer.
3. Bopped around the kitchen and sang along to Sinatra and Madeleine Peyroux and Nina Simone while making dinner.

Decided to make two smaller sourdough loaves with these wooden moulds I had. Quite pleased with how they turned out.
The idea of making two small ones was to freeze a loaf, and not scoff all the bread at once. Have just sliced one for the freezer…not all the slices have made it into the freezer. Perfectly fine for a late night snack right?
Good morning tooters. Another warmish night of 10c with a little more rain late last night & a grey old day today where we’re heading to 19c. More rain is forecast but I can’t see anything on the radar - at least for now. So I was brave & hung out the washing. Well - put it on a couple of clothes horses so I can whip them into the garage should the rain come again. I do like my clothes getting at least some fresh air. I’ve stripped & changed my bedding, but I’m not washing the sheets until the sun comes back.
I need to feed my #Sourdough starter with the view to baking bread next week. I’ve noticed it can take a good 24hrs for my #Kefir to work nowadays, which is fine. I’m still getting my daily drink of the #GoodGutStuff .
I know others are struggling with the floods & for that you have my sympathy, but it is so lovely to have it wet outside for a change here. Everything feels fresh & clean & I really hope Adelaide gets its share soon.
Another quiet day for me, doing home jobs & puttering around. I might even find some more stuff for the op shops, actually I know I will .
Have a fantastic #Saturday people & enjoy your #Weekend - stay safe out there, especially those in the flood zones.

All out of #bread. Been too busy doing outside work to get around to it.
So have divided some neglected #sourdough starter and got that working. Also just picked up some 12 grain cereal and sunflower seeds. I have a hankering for some dark seedy loaves this weekend.
