Detox Doodles!
This is a habit of drawing something every time I feel the urge to scroll unnecessarily. It helps stop the bad habit and start a new good habit of sketching daily!
This page is all about blorpy bloopy Seals!
Time for some more linocut purple martin birds, and a purple martin birdhouses. The male birds are a glossy blue-black and the female birds are brown with a blue patch on their heads. They are acrobatic birds, and the largest North American birds in the swallow family. They are are considered synanthropic; they have developed a relationship with humans after living near people for centuries. 1/n
It seems that I forgot to share yesterday's drawing. Oh well.
But I was thinking about red blood cells while working on today's #inkyDays drawing. Here's an in-progress shot.
And that wraps up this month of daily drawings. They're now all posted for my supporters on Patreon and Ko-fi:

I'll be starting new posts tomorrow.
Happy birthday #physicist Chien-shiung Wu (1912-1997), who came up with a truly beautiful experiment to test whether the weak force conserves parity (whether beta decay would be the same if reflected in the mirror)! In my print on the left I show Wu in her lab & a schematic diagram of her experiment. On the right I show her reflection, as in the mirror, & the mirror reflection of the experimental set-up & the shocking result, 1/n

Painting 10 in the Close Encounters Collection is "Cat-atonic"! It captures that feeling of existential crisis we get once in a while...

This page is all about opossums, who are absolutely the coolest!
Still obsessed with the cutest nesting strategy going. The Eastern Snail Shell Mason Bee (Osmia conjuncta) is a small North American blue bee which makes nests in suitable empty snail shells! In my linocut I show this adorable little pollinator with a Cepaea shell. Each print is 8” by 8” on delicate Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.

Des formes, des textures… un univers parallèle dans un fruit du quotidien. La beauté est littéralement dans les détails.

Lol just tried to talk to a virologist about artistic license in #sciart and she was not having it
I recently took an art class here in Tucson & one of the highlights was that we had live Sonoran Desert critters brought into the classroom for us to sketch! I usually like to take my time creating art, but making these quick gesture sketches of Quincy the Gambel’s Quail was fun! Read about it on my blog post https://paulaborchardt.substack.com/p/quick-sketches-of-quincy-the-quail
Started this bumblebee drawing for World Bee Day. I focused on texture with my .3mm Pentel Graphgear and 2B lead, resisting the urge to create too much detail. Flowers got less love, but still pop. Tagging this with #RareLittleThings as a teaser–announcement coming soon! #sciart
