Friends, I must request your advice on a very important matter.

I just acquired this beautiful cabinet to display all my minis, foremost among them the majestic and terrifying Tiamat. Unfortunately the display case is currently unbalanced with her awesome power, potentially causing a collapse of the entire multiverse. What other other being should sit across from her to fill out the other door and once again bring stability to this realm?

I updated the Glory in the Thunder RPG work-in-progress. There's a new intro cutscene, plus the entire second scene of the story. Everything that is now implemented is half an hour end-to-end. This is HTML5, it will load directly into the game.

(NB: if it offers to let you continue from an autosave of the previous build, it... probably won't work? You'll probably just get stuck in the chapel. IDK.)

So, despite it not being my type of RPG (I much prefer cRPGs), all the good reactions made me get "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33".

First reactions, after playing the prologue:

  • Very interesting world, the prologue definitely left me curious about what's coming
  • Combat tutorial felt like old final fantasy, or persona games, but I only did two rounds of it so far
  • Liking the main character so far
  • Writing felt very French indeed, in a good way.
  • I loved the music so far, it will into my ttRPG playlists

I wish more people were talking about it, as it's a much more interesting release than the remaster of Oblivion.

Hopefully you don't think this is dumb - or you think it's dumb but do it anyway.

Could you finish this sentence for me, without looking what other people wrote?
I know I'm assuming maybe a bit too much.

"Playing role-playing games is an exercise in ________ ."

Ok, I've been a bit coy about it, but now I will say it with all the words:

I'm looking for collaborators with my #dungeoncrawler

The targets are DOS/386, if possible Amiga AGA (I do have a working build, but it's terribly slow) and the GameBoy Advance. I use a custom C90 3D engine.

Inspiration:
System Shock, Marathon 2, Doom 2 RPG, Phantasy Star I-IV, Albion (1995), Strife, Shining the Holy Ark, Wizardry, Etrian Odissey, X-Men and general Cyberpunk.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 reviews are being published and it seems that everyone agrees on how good it is. A J-RPG made in France, with a new take on turn by turn combats, that isn't 100+ hours long.
It seems I've found what I'm playing next!
