Quazar<p>The little SAM Coupe PCBs I made to go on the top of my new SAA1099P Soundchip Interface (for RC2014 and compatibles) looked so good I've got extra made to make them available as pin badges! </p><p>Grab yours here:<br><a href="https://samcoupe.com/quickshop.htm" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">samcoupe.com/quickshop.htm</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/samcoupe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>samcoupe</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a></p>
Ben A L Jemmett<p>Part 7 (!) of my RC2014 Pro Pride kit build tonight, and I think we'll be tackling the WiFi module. If we have time we might even try to reflash its ESP8266 with different firmware, to make it pretend to be a modem for connecting out to BBSes. But first we need to get it built and working with the default firmware!</p><p>That'll be from 2130 BST (50 minutes from now) at <a href="https://twitch.tv/baljemmett/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">twitch.tv/baljemmett/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> if you care to join me.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/SelfPromo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SelfPromo</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/RC2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RC2014</span></a></p>
Shonky Electronics!<p>Ok, I’ve got the FTDI FT245 working in place of the Dual SIO card on the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> Pro, for SCM and BASIC. It allows CP/M to start (it wouldn’t earlier today), but… the BIOS provided with the Pro kit is expecting a SIO, and not a 6850. Doh! In theory, it should work with the 6850 version of CP/M, but I don’t have that just yet. </p><p>I do like that I could connect without needing a separate USB-Serial adaptor, and might still get some boards made. And maybe try and get the 6850 version of CP/M</p>

Shonky Electronics!<p>I bought and assembled this Rosco M68k keyboard a while back. It sends ASCII over serial, so I figured I’d try it with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a>. As expected it works fine :-)</p>

Ben A L Jemmett<p>Going live in an hour with part 6 of my RC2014 Pro Pride kit build; I'm planning to work on the VGA terminal board this evening. Quazar<p>🚨 New Release - SAA1099P Soundchip Interface for RC2014 and compatibles.</p><p>The SAM Coupe has been my computer of choice for the last 32 years so bringing its sound chip, the Philips SAA1099P, over to the RC2014 and compatible ecosystem is a no brainer, especially following a request asking if it was possible, so here it is!</p><p>The SAA1099P can considered to be similar to using two AY sound chips: It provides 6 sound generators (31Hz to 7.81KHz). 2 noise generators and 2 envelope controllers. Separate volume for left and right volumes of each channel. On the interface the I/O port used can be selected with jumpers to avoid clashes with other hardware you have, as well as for using multiple cards in the same system. </p><p>More information / purchase: <br><a href="https://2014.samcoupe.com" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">2014.samcoupe.com</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>In the video the music playing is from the 'Lyra 3' megademo on the SAM Coupe, by the legendary chiptune musician Ziutek from the E.S.I. demogroup.</p><p><a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/soundchip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>soundchip</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/chiptune" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>chiptune</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/synth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>synth</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/samcoupe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>samcoupe</span></a></p>

Anybody have any interesting places you go for BASIC programs and help writing programs?</p>
NottheBoson<p>Still no closer to figuring out exactly why my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> isn't working, all the solder joints seem to be ok as far as I can see. I did manage to get it to boot briefly a couple of times so obviously the jumpers are correct and the chips themselves are ok. Beginning to think I've fried a pad somewhere so have poor connection but can't see the damage.</p>
