When those who are supposedly profiteering the most from #AI #Storage needs are warning about the extreme over-demand for that #bubble, you know shit's going bad.

Happy #Greedflation everyone, enjoy your #AIslop!

Things we can do away with in headline and blurb #writing

Scientists say...
Experts say...
Shoppers say...

And the word "this" anywhere in the title if you didn't also tell me what "this" is, as in:

"This one food will clean your laundry in your sleep!"

Specific, nouns, people. Do you speak them?

Digitalminister erklärt: Ausweis und Führerschein bald im Handy

Hm, was kann da schon schiefgehen?

#scams piss me off.

Because usually it's the most vulnerable people who fall for them.

I just spent two hours trying to convince a guy at my group home that his "girlfriend" was actually a scammer.

1. They were in a different country and had never actually wanted to speak on the phone or do a video call.

2. They constantly asked for all his money.

3. They would become extremely manipulative if he refused.

He is autistic and has taken out LOANS and is now also heartbroken.

There's a cycling path near my place. But people prefer to walk on it, and cyclists still prefer to cycle on the original pavement.

Because the cycling path was built for the sake of building one, on top of the existing worn out dirt path. The cycling path is too sharp and sloped up and down for cyclists, but ideal for walkers. While the original pavement bend too much instead of a practical straight line, that's why people don't walk on them.

I have come up with a brilliant way to troll idiots on #reddit into not talking to you.

They will show up and insult you over just about anything, and then keep saying stuff that is so insufferable, and annoying that you feel compelled to respond.

It's extremely manipulative, and indicative of other #mentalhealth disorders, so I just say "hey you need help, so I'm happy to help you figure out what's wrong," then copy and paste random disorder definitions until they go away.

Nervt!

Some of my brain cells die every time someone on the internet says "I would switch from Windows to SteamOS if Valve released it for desktop PCs"

My brother is Stallman, SteamOS website says:
> Users should not consider SteamOS as a replacement for their desktop operating system.

And what exactly is stopping you from installing Manjaro right now? Apart from your lack of understanding?

FFS!!!!!

I removed IPv4 from two of my cloud-servers, since Hetzner charges extra for legacy and I don't need IPv4 on those (I access the servers and services with IPv6 and habe my RoadWarrior VPN for when I'm on outdated networks).

Now I noticed, that I can't update some Linux containers anymore, because the GitHub Container registry (ghcr.io) does not have IPv6 in 2025?! Seriousyl?? That's ridicoulous.

So in case you #rust enthusiasts didn't notice, you ruined Gentoo, too. You made rust a requirement for compiling gcc because your language is soooo great, and your compiler takes a huge amount of time and CPU to compile, so they've made gcc depend on rust-bin. What that means is every (every!) Gentoo system can be compromised, just by sneaking malicious code into rust-bin. I know you rich kids think everything is fine and we can just buy more RAM, and we peasants don't need to be able to compile things, so why wouldn't we want to use an untrusted binary for literally everything? But fuck you. You're one bad day away from being just as fucked as I am.

And if you try to defend your horrible project of destroying open source and reserving compiling to rich kids, by claiming that Gentoo starts out with untrusted binaries, there is a very good reason for compiling source of the next update to a compiler like gcc. If someone sneaks malicious code into Gentoo's stage3 binaries, then only people in the future who install Gentoo from the bad binaries are at risk. When someone sneaks malicious code into rust-bin, then every Gentoo system on the planet is at risk, as soon as they update. Just to make it clear to you appdevs: bootstrap from binary once = more secure than use new binary for every update.

I hope this is opt-out, because I'm trying to specify USE=-rust now. But the fact that I didn't even know about this until I wondered why rust-bin was installed on my system means a lot of people with very high security requirements fell for your scam. Opt-out at the bottom of the fine print. Just like you slimeballs love.

I saw someone get kicked out of the group home I stay in for the dumbest reason I've ever seen someone get kicked out-

#coffee.

He kept stealing people's coffee, mine several times and other people's. He didn't have money/foodstamps of his own, and this place only gives coffee until 12PM.

He'd wait until you walked away, then chug it.

He was warned several times, then did it again in front of staff unknowingly.

#theft is still theft, now he's #homeless over coffee.

**update**: If you are using this post as some kind of call-to-action to harass and attack the GOS developers, please don't.

That damages everyone. You, them, and myself. It's not helpful.

**Update two**. I have made the decision to pull this post. It is not a good starting-point for a discussion, and just encourages defensiveness on both sides – when there really aren't sides here at all.

As a FOSS contributor, I am deeply ashamed at the way I approached this out of frustration.

No matter how good your #tech is, #developers will always be garbage, and catch up to your #phone or #desktop as they don't believe in #optimization and just go:

HEY LOOK, STUFF HAS MORE MEMORY AND PROCESSING POWER, LET'S CRAM A WHOLE BUNCH OF EXTRA SHIT IN NOBODY ACTUALLY NEEDS AND MAKE IT LOOK PRETTY IN THE MOST INEFFECTUAL WAY!!!

Some do, and you folks are doing GOD'S WORK.

Even with 4 gigs of ram on my phone and 8 cores, I still have #apps freeze everything up.
