My only irritation with Mastodon, which I otherwise love, is that the core of the reference implementation is Ruby on Rails.

I loved Ruby twenty-ish years ago. Fell out of love quickly when I realized how frequently the language core is updated and how much you have to stick to that cadence. I used to call it the "no adults in the room approach to ecosystem development.

I think that's unfair, but as I sit here waiting for Ruby 3.4.2 to install to update Mastodon to close out this critical security update... I think it's only a little unfair. 😉

My team is hiring a senior level Ruby on Rails / Elixir developer. The job is fully remote, US only. Blackbaud is a good company to work for. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the position.

#DHH, who often posted that things should have consequences, and used how he raised his kids as an example, now wrote that he wants to say racist shit about someone with no consequences. He is mad that he cannot say racist shit. That is the #rails leader. At this point, I accept the fact that everyone on the rails core team is thinking the same racist shit as he does.
