Oh, ha, and speaking of #firewall + #multicast fixes: Didn't notice before but my #Linux #netfilter fix for #MRD has made it upstream, yaiy: git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/k
It went in through net-next, so likely won't be backported to stable kernels. But now I'm looking forward to #Proxmox using Linux 6.10, then I can drop the workaround firewall rule on the @chaotikumev server.

Had two power cuts yesterday and it killed the SSD in my HomeLab #Proxmox server i recently setup. Thankfully my vms were on second drive. Had fun today workout how to recover them. Will have to sort proper backup soon need something to copy them to first.

My wifey approved #homelab had to move...

The reason is easy - you can probably already guess that there might be some thermal problems raising on the left picture. It resulted into permanently spinning & annoying fans. Also the temperatures went a way too high. So, easy solution - everything moved into a metal shoe rack under my working desk. From ~80°C CPU temperature it dropped to ~65°C without spinning fans.

I've been seeing a lot of people saying they would love proxmox on raspberry pi obviously unaware that that's a reality for years by now.

If you are one of 'em have a look at
github.com/jiangcuo/pxvirt/wiki

pxvirt is the new name of the pimox project
It supports running proxmox on ARM64, RISC-V & LoongArch.

I personally only tested it on Raspbery Pi 4 & 5 as I still need a performant RISC-V system and a LoongArch machine.

From #VMware to #Proxmox VE: Step-by-Step Escape Plan
#ProxmoxVE has become a popular platform because of its #opensource nature. Using the built-in import tool, they go through the steps for migrating a #virtualmachine from a standalone VMware #ESXi server to Proxmox Virtual Environment.
You can shift workloads with minimal downtime and disruption by following the right preparation steps: verifying compatibility, cleaning up VMware Tools, and configuring import settings.

I have no IT background. Just like to tinker. Started running #fedora kde plasma on my laptop. Ran some VMs. Just installed #proxmox on a mini PC. Latest accomplishment: #tailscale. Just getting by with YouTube videos and searches, but having fun mixed with frustration. I don't interact much here. Still, I wanted to shout out my excitement into the "abyss".
