Mallory's Musings & Mischief<p>I really think that <a href="https://thingy.social/tags/OpenSourceHardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenSourceHardware</span></a> will gradually change the world, because OSH devices will persist as proprietary devices become more complex, shitty, unreliable, and (most importantly) unrepairable.</p><p>It's like a kind of pseudo-natural selection; you could use the corporate thing that's dirt cheap, but is locked-down, packed with ads, and designed to fail, or you can use an open design that isn't as exciting, but is stable, does exactly what you need, and can be repaired relatively easily</p>
