monkeydom, Ar.T<p>It's been roughly 5 years since my last honest lines of new <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ObjectiveC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ObjectiveC</span></a> code. </p><p>And while in my current context I'm living and breathing <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Rust" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rust</span></a>, and is the right tool for the job and generally speaking joyous, it did not give the same dosis of daily joy I had in the heyday of Objective-C and Cocoa/UIKit.</p><p>Interestingly, this also meant that a significant portion of my spare and hobby time shifted away from computing and towards musical instruments.So it might still be a net win for me.</p>

I'm interested in <a class="hashtag" href="https://ap.nil.im/tag/objectivec" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ObjectiveC</a>, writing <a class="hashtag" href="https://ap.nil.im/tag/assembly" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#assembly</a> code (in whatever I can get my hands on, from x86_64 to PA-RISC to SPARC64 to IA64 etc.) and any kind of lowlevel hackery, <a class="hashtag" href="https://ap.nil.im/tag/retrocomputing" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#RetroComputing</a>, <a class="hashtag" href="https://ap.nil.im/tag/opensource" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OpenSource</a> in general and decentralization (such as <span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" href="https://mastodon.matrix.org/@matrix" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>matrix</span></a></span> or the <a class="hashtag" href="https://ap.nil.im/tag/fediverse" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Fediverse</a>). The idea that anyone could create a website — how cool is that!?</p><p>I’ve been a <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/Mac" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mac</span></a> user even longer (my parents were in education and my mom would bring home her office Mac Classic on the weekends). Being creative with <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/HyperCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HyperCard</span></a> and wanting to make dynamic websites eventually got me into <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>programming</span></a>. First with <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/Perl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Perl</span></a>, later <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/PHP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PHP</span></a>, and now <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/JavaScript" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JavaScript</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/TypeScript" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TypeScript</span></a>. I’ve also had some fun with <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/C" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>C</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/ObjectiveC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ObjectiveC</span></a>, and <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/Swift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Swift</span></a>.</p><p>For 14 years I worked at a small company that makes the premier CMS for the <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/AltWeekly" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AltWeekly</span></a> press in the US. Now I work on web applications in <a href="https://mastodon.limulus.net/tags/React" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>React</span></a> in the far-more corporate world. I also used to co-organize TucsonJS and Tucson React meetups.</p>
